Gasly in a better car would be epic. I wish RB would hire him again.
Would be unfair to boot Checo out, he put in better performances after getting his shot than Gasly did. To kick him out to see if maybe Gasly would do better a second time is a bit harsh.

Ricciardo needs to leave McLaren though. But I'm not sure which of the lower teams can afford his salary, and the higher teams are unlikely to hire him based on his recent performance...

Binotto is a mechanical engineer if I remember correctly. Not necessarily the best person to have on the wall.
Binotto was the CTO and if memory serves, threatened to leave if he didn't get the team prinicpal role, as there weren't any other opportunities available for him to be promoted into. So really, you have a techy who finds himself in more of a management position to which he is obviously not well suited.

Under his management Ferrari now have the most competitive car they've had for arguably almost 15 years. Without it, I doubt there'd be much arguing about strategy calls...

Having a quick car and poor strategy don't make a competitive outfit.

Hamilton's "what could have been" if he didn't have DRS issues in qualifying. He would've still been second.
If the race was 5 or 6 laps longer without the VSC we might've been in a for a treat near the end. Merc at least is showing improvement.

Which is harder to accomplish - Fast car or perfect strategy?
They'd need to work together to allow for measured success. They're not mutually exclusive.
They managed to work on the car, and now they've succeeded in stuffing up the strategy (or the engines blowing).
If they get the strategy right next year, who can say that Merc/RBR wouldn't have moved ahead anyways, and seen another team like Alpine/McLaren catch up to Ferrari.
Second half of the season will be interesting.

To win a championship you need both, the fast car is useless with the wrong team. So it doesn't matter which is harder, you need both.

Sainz beat Leclerc last year in the championship.
And your point? Russell is ahead of Hamilton this year, does that proof he is the better driver?
Leclerc beat him 14 times last year and he beat Leclerc 8 times. Few no points for Leclerc is the only reason he beat him by 5 points.

A good car isn't of any use if you don't manage to exploit its capabilities. It's not a car building competition, it's a car racing competition. The goal is to win.
