Lewis apparently spending the summer break in Namibia.

Not gonna lie: I'd much rather see him in a Mclaren because we're taking it in 2023!

Isn't he under contract with Alpine? Nothing like firing yourself and not getting an F1 drive if Alpine decide to just make him stay as reserve driver and give someone else Alonso's seat for 2023.
I’d guess that for him to make such a strong statement means he either has a drive or is finalizing a drive contract with another team.

Imagine driving a car for the first time ever and beating an experienced driver in the same hardware?
This is the part of the argument that is causing the confusion and is an invalid assumption.

Mercedes knew from the first race that they had a major problem and from there on they were trying anything they could to try and understand why they had a problem and how to fix it.

They have two cars, so each race, each session, they have tried different modifications on each car and different setups in each session, to try and narrow it down.

Yes, George has driven exceptionally well so far, that is why he was employed, and Lewis has had a hard time so far but is still up there with the best. Both have been making the best use of a bad package but I doubt that they have had Identical cars since that first race as each has been testing different components and setup so that the engineers can gather the data.

This year they are not Racing Drivers, they are Test Pilots, so no comparison is possible nor defensible.
As a team they are both doing an exceptional job, under horrendous conditions, but still managing to compete in a championship in which their cars are outclassed.

Don't compare them to each other, rather ask why the other teams are not so far ahead.

Apparently he has a pre-contract with Mclaren or something like that...I don't quite get it.

I read somewhere that his contract contains an exit clause he can use if he doesn't get a drive in 2023.

So they cannot force him to sit and do nothing (if that is true).

So allegedly, Alpine had first option on him for 2023 up to 31 July 2022...

Now, why did Alonso drop a bomb without even Alpine knowing it was coming?

Proper tinfoil hat, but what if Alonso helped Piastri by waiting until August???
Boom!

I missed this circus show but glad to see you guys are on it.

WTF are Alpine doing?
