Now go back to Gene's comments.

Mick isn't Verstappen, he's not bringing results nor money home, but he is smashing their cars to pieces.
That car can't bring results. It's why it has gone backwards. That lies on the design and team.

"But when you are in the back and you wreck cars, that’s very difficult.

Gene is literally implying that if you cannot get results, don't break the car. Ask yourself an honest question; do you think Haas are under any illusions about their car? They've done this long enough to know it isn't good, so just don't tear it to pieces.

This is why I compared him to KMag. Aside from KMag's hatred for frontwing endplates, he has been one of the ''cleanest'' drivers this year. Mick has for two successive seasons been the most destructive driver on the grid.

If Haas are picking between drivers, they're taking the one that brings things home in one piece. It also doesn't help Mick that KMag has scored more points. He hasn't helped his cause at all.

Probably more to do with tyre management as he had a relatively long stint on those mediums. Hannah and the tyre guys would've worked out what pace he needs to win and have the tyres last to the end. All he had to do was stick to the plan.
I think you are right, but so am I.

by limiting the lap time to a specific time as we see here with Max, the goal might be to limit tyre wear, but there are also 2 more side affects:
1. You hide the car's true performance from your competitors.
2. You hide the tyre wear pattern from your competitors. In this case, specifically Merc.

However if you think about it, all 3 of these are side affects of keeping a specific lap time. The goal could be any of these 3 or even all 3 of them.

Amazing skill from Max and epic thinking from the strat team.

Mick is a Ferrari Academy driver who drives for Hass as part of the PU deal.

If it is not economical for Hass to keep him then it is up to Ferrari to to either make it beneficial to Hass or to find their driver a new seat.

Micks career is in Ferrari's hands not Hass.

Haas will have greater flexibility in picking their next driver pairing. The new sponsorship deal going a long way to potentially easing their financial woes and thus making them less reliant on Ferrari generosity.

There are also rumblings that Gene and Guenther are not the only ones that have seen all they need to regards Mick. Mattia Binotto is reportedly willing to bring the curtain down on Mick's time in F1 in favour of giving Robert Shwartzman a chance as well as possibly giving Giovinazzi a way back in to F1. Giovinazzi is said to be well-liked by Mattia and Maranello and he has a reputation for being a reliable hand.

Gene is being a hypocrite. Mick has brought 12 points this season - more than the the team scored in the last two seasons combined.
At some point he needs to accept his own responsibility for the state of the team. I like him but the buck needs to stop further up IMO.

Also a contender but that’s some way off.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Mick is SOL for a drive next year unfortunately. Although I don't understand the motivation to go with Hulk. Yeah Mick has killed some cars but it's hardly a consistent thing, it's just when he crashes he does it properly.

I can think of a couple drivers less worthy of a seat but hey this is F1. He'll never be able to live up to his dad but I think he's been given the short end of the stick.

Hulk is quite popular but there's probably some other upside for Haas besides just driving and popularity. I also think that perhaps Mick isn't as much of a magnet for advertising/promotion as Haas thought he'd be. 2023's driver lineup is "more deserving" than much of the previous years. It's a shame Mick doesn't have a drive.

Looking at articles like this it seems as if the press wants to fan the flames of toxicity even more, while criticizing the toxic social media interactions.

"Lando is feeling unwell with suspected food poisoning," revealed McLaren this morning on social media, "so he will rest in the hotel today.

"We expect him back at track tomorrow. Get well soon, Lando!"

While the team is hoping that the Briton will be on track tomorrow, this being a Sprint weekend somewhat complicates matters, for while he can miss the opening practice session, should he miss the afternoon's qualifying session he would be out for the remainder of the weekend.

Previously, McLaren had agreed a deal with Alpine whereby Oscar Piastri would be the Woking outfit's reserve driver, but this was before the team essentially snatched the Australian from under the French outfit's noses, a situation not helped by Zak Brown's subsequent baiting of Alpine boss, Otmar Szafnauer.

Consequently, should Norris not make a full recovery it is likely that Nyck de Vries would be called up in the same way that he replaced Alex Albon at Monza for Williams.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nyck de Vries in a McLaren especially after his Williams outing, but I also wish Lando a speedy recovery.
