There are many rumors and if true things may not turn out well for Checo.
So Max said this was discussed before and he gave his reasons. Now the rumor is, it's because of cheating and deliberately crashing at Monaco so Max can't get pole. Now for me on the clip posted earlier it looks clear. Normal lap he does not accelerate before he is through the corner. On crash lap he goes full throttle before he is even in middle of corner.
Now this rumor seems plausible. Seeing that the team have all the telemetry and data, it is plausible that they noticed this, discussed it, Checo admitted it and Max gave his reasons why he would not help a cheater.

Now this can have huge repercussions, especially for Checo. So its plausible that the team might have kept this internally. But since the media and fans are now slamming Max, the gloves might come off and the "real" story might come out.
There is some more spice for DTS, Max's mom allegedly posted this on a post where someone attacked Max and defended Checo.

Regarding the rumors running around since July that Checo cheated his wife after the Monaco race

So if all this is true and comes out the open, Max might walk out of it stronger and Danny Ric might just have a seat for next year.

just look at this thread.... its part of the reason why there is so much drama...

"fans" love it

This needs a Jolyon Palmer episode on F1TV for him to analyse that Monaco data once and for all and give his verdict.

Checo had already signed his new contract before the Monaco weekend (he blurted out "I guess I signed too early" as he was walking up to the podium with Horner - that was how the new contract leaked). If this storm turns out to be true, Red Bull will have an even worse PR monster on their hands and they'll have to throw Perez under the bus to clean up Max's optics. Messy....

Well if all is true all the great F1 experts on this thread that have complained about FIA cheating and Flavio Briatore cheating, should then have huge respect for Max standing up against it. Hope they will even turn into Max fans.

I'm not sure I buy the Monaco thing, Check has had this arsehole's back for so long he's nearly been up to his lungs through his sphincter. And Monaco is the last place to try crap like this as it could easily backfire on you, and very badly so.

If Checo was guilty of self-pranging in Monaco, I highly doubt RB would ever admit to it because then they would become enemy number 1 for burying it all this time. There is no upside in this no matter what comes out.

What I do wish, is that Max had just STFU and not replied to GP on the radio. Stay silent and spin the story that the team told him to go after Alonso and he was nearly there and Checo was too far back to let him come past at the end. His telling off over team radio really sh%t the bed....

Max comes across as very narcissistic, so I doubt he gives a sht about what anyone else thinks or the repercussions for his team or the brand.

But according to Max they discussed it behind closed doors and he gave his reasons(presumably the cheating)
So again, then its not Max's fault, the team should not have asked him that over the radio. And then even after he did not let Checo pass, they asked again over the radio why? So not his fault, the team should have kept quiet and not ask for explanations over the radio?
Why all these hate for Verstappen? Why blame everything on him? He did nothing to influence the championship last year, he just raced?

Whatever happened at Monaco has no bearing on this race. So he's happy for Checo to help him to a championship all year, and can't return the favour once. Because he's still holding a grudge over something that made no difference to the championship in the end. What an immature twat.

Swapping positions would have had no effect on the team points but it would have helped them towards a 1-2. Checo should ditch them and then Albon and Gasly can help him to his next championship...

I'm not going to justify hate. But I can completely understand, and share in, the extreme disappointment in hearing Max speak like he did on the radio. If the team was asking him to do something which they had already discussed and already knew he would not abide by, then that's on them. But Max should never have openly said what he did for millions of fans to hear.

Well if the cheating is true and he is a racer that loves the sport and totally against cheating, it has a bearing on any race where he will not support a cheater(alleged). Did Perez even help him after Monaco?
This is all rumors, if true there could be even repercussions for Max. But now if it comes out its true, his side will be clean because everyone heard on the radio he is against cheating(if true, maybe there is something else)

It's still not cheating unless it can be proven that it was deliberate.

I didn't see anyone call this guy a cheater after he got pole and crashed (also at Monaco)...

LOL there is a bit of a difference between crashing so hard that your car cannot even start on pole the next day. I mean who is that stupid? Much better just flicking it around in one of the slowest corners where nobody can pass.

I am not disputing that he legitimately put up a fight last season to have won it cleanly but that didn't happen. He could've done the right thing when the very clear and obvious human error occurred but he didn't. Everyone knew it was wrong.

Given all that, he has no right to claim the moral high ground now.

Who is everyone, the Merc Fanboys? Nobody complained and everyone accepted the outcome, accept the Hamilton fans.
Max raced the race and was declared champion, 90% of the world rejoiced. Your hearings and "human error" was only months later. Nothing to do with Max or RB or their sponsors.
There have been many errors in all sports, probably every world cup(soccer, rugby, cricket etc) Nobody take a victory away because the ref made a mistake somewhere, you just crying from a Hamilton fan point of view.
There also have been many times where they pay people huge amounts of money to take the fall, with a non-disclosure agreement, just the keep the cancel culture crowd happy.

Everybody thinks there was a human error and Max should not have been penalized in Brazil. Why did Lewis not do the right thing and gave his 2nd place to Max?
