Out of interest, has anyone ever been that far ahead before in F1 in terms of points?
Now there's an interesting exercise....Schumacher won the 2002 championship with 6 races to go, which remains the record for the fastest championship victory.
He had 96 points out of a maximum of 110 points at the time. Montoya was second on 34 points. In terms of percentage, he had scored 33.5% of all available points. Currently Max has scored 24% of all available points.
It was because of the 2002 season that they changed the points system at the time, reducing the points margin the winner had over the runner-up to avoid someone running away with it so quickly.

Here you go... fascinating. The Yellow ones are the positions that would be affected by the points difference:

Also, only positions 2-4 would have a statistical chance of winning other than Max.
Good spot, updatedThink you missed 6 points for Checo in Belgium there. But an interesting read!

Your points for Alonso are wrong. He got 2nd in Monaco. Here you go... fascinating. The Yellow ones are the positions that would be affected by the points difference with Piastri being one point above Norris.

Bottas is around 7 years Russel"s senior in the sport. Why should Russel earn more?Lol big W for Bottas. Loses his seat at Merc and still gets paid more than his replacement.

Bottas lost around 30% of his earnings when he moved. Not a big W in my books.
