You probably also think Frik du Preez is a better lock than Eben Etzebeth.
Give Frik the McLaren and Eben the Volvo and I can tell you without thinking too hard, who would win the drag.
As the years pass every profession and every sport get more professional and more competitive.
You cant compare someone that raced as a hobby here and there and probably had the most money/sponsors to practice the most and get the best cars, to the competitiveness of F1 today. Fangio would be nowhere.
LMAO.
Now the goalposts are 'F1 of today'
As if somehow those guys back then had it easy.
I'd pay big money to watch a season with todays drivers and those bicuit wheel shod cars of Fangios day. That would really highlight driver skill. Could be a lot of fun too, but regardless, the driver with the slower car can't beat the driver with the fastest car if the gap is big enough. Ask Max. For 8 years he couldn't win a single world championship.
Lewis only waited two years, nearly did it on his debut.
/waits for vaaldam to say Lewis had a faster car.

Hamilton and Alonso would whip Verstappens butt in the right car.

You talk do much kak. Prime Verstappen v Hamilton v Alonso in the same car would see them stuck behind each other only to be passed by Prost and left in the dust.

I wouldn't doubt that. Would actually love to see it haha. Prost was a wiz... that man knew how to drive and set up a car.

They did the math some time ago and under today's scoring system he'd have his teammates (Senna, Hill etc) and won those championships. 10+

Will need to find it.

EDIT: meh, cannot find it, but he would've taken dumped these other three hacks.

LOL. It's the saddest thing about sport in general. The fact that we'll never get to see Fangio, Prost, Senna or Schumi vs the current three WC just like we'll never see Ali vs any modern boxer.
I know a lot has been said about Prost being a boring driver as opposed to Senna, but if you're a close follower of the sport, he was incredible. He may have occasionally been emotional, but nothing like modern drivers on the radio... that said, he didn't have an engineer telling him how to drive.

Ok it's more like 7 according this guy's video, and he came very close to more. And unlike today's guys his teammates were world champions as well.

Prost is the GOAT, end of story. I dunno if Jim Clark was a goatier GOAT though.

Max didn't have a world championship winning Toro Rosso or Red Bull. Lewis entered F1 with about 2 season worth of testing in a world championship winning car. Just the same as Lewis now doesn't have a world championship winning car

**** sorry man. I quoted the wrong person. My apologies
No worries haha

Don't forget Alonso beat Schumi and Hamilton tied on points in his debut with Alonso in the same hardware. He also beat Rosberg thoroughly, but yes... I don't put Rosberg in the same category as Senna. Button... I like the man, but his WC was a bit of luck in the best car on the grid by a country mile... sounds familiar. That said, Button took the BAR to third in the drivers WC which is a feat in itself.

I probably wouldn't argue that point. In a couple of years if the Ham can get his career back on track, I might.

Fascinating. Another reason against having "sister" teams on the grid. Double the budget and playing field. You try this, we try that. This doesn't work? Now use that... nice bit of budget saved there.

It does make this comment a bit of a joke:
In an exclusive interview with RacingNews365.com, Tost was asked whether it would make sense for the team to have a more cooperative relationship with Red Bull, particularly given the fact that Aston Martin's 2022 challenger appeared more similar to the champions' than AlphaTauri's did.
"We do everything, regarding the cooperation with Red Bull, which is [allowed in] the regulations," Tost explained. "We get from Red Bull a gearbox, rear suspension, parts from the front suspension, hydraulics."
While AlphaTauri use the same wind tunnel as Red Bull, Tost admits that this has to be done in a strict way. "The wind tunnel, we have to use separately," the Austrian said. "We use the same wind tunnel, but we are in the wind tunnel on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and Red Bull [are] in the wind tunnel Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or something like this.
"We are not allowed to share anything. As you know, when we started our project [in 2006], we got everything from Red Bull. This was the best situation, but this was [subsequently] forbidden by the regulations."

Vkit.. If the teams can't catch up to this year's car by the end of 2023, they might actually be fighting for podiums lol

Imagine next year there is a race and Max wins, Tsunoda is second and Perez is third...
