Nope, and I am of the opinion that Danny Ric is a spent force. He is past his prime.

He'd probably be to Max what Kimi was to Vettel in his final seasons at Ferrari. Mostly harmless, banter and maybe an odd win, but no threat.

But none of them have proven to be great drivers. They would all basically be 2nd drivers in top teams. They are Not Max, Le Clerc, Alonso. Hamilton.

My original post was if Williams was not better than we think, they just need a great driver.
Now you say Albon is carrying the team. Yes he is, against a rookie. Same as a rookie Verstappen was beaten 2/3 years by Danny Ric.
Doing well against yourself and a rookie does not mean you are good.
Fact is Albon has done nothing suggesting he is a great driver and thus there is a good chance the Williams is a faster car than we think and a better driver may result in Williams fighting in the top half most of the time.
I say again, De Vries finished in the points in that car in his first race. And De Vries proved to be not as great a driver.

There's no indication that Albon isn't responsible for putting that car in the points.

De Vries' single race isn't evidence to the contrary. Average deficits for team mates puts Latifi's deficit to Albon in qualifying at 0.472%. Latifi's deficit to Russell in qualifying averaged was 0.406%. De Vries to Latifi in Q1 was 2/100ths - or negligible. Y/Y the deficit is negligible thus the car isn't *that* much better.

Supports above average driver in below average car.

Williams are better. Albon is proving to be a good driver. Both points are true. Albon is at the very least driving that car to its potential, which is maximising its straight-line performance. He's also been a tyre whisperer as well, on a few occasions running his tyres to the extreme end of their operating window and scoring points while doing it.

I also never said Albon is a great driver, nor have I seen anybody else claim that. He has however irrefutably redeemed himself following his stint with Red Bull, showing confidence, maturity and race craft, things that were lacking when he was at Red Bull. He's gone from the guy that cried about being raced so hard to the guy that is giving people a pain in the arse on track because of the car's speed and his ability to both attack other drivers and make his car as wide as possible. Prior to the race at Monza, both Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris said dealing with him was going to be painful. They were correct.

I agree and I also think Albon is good enough to get a seat in a top team eventually. Perhaps even partnering Russel once LH retires.

I think Williams should get Mic in there to replace Sargeant so that Merc can keep him active. Wolf rates him.

Lawson, Piastri and Norris will be the next F1 top guys gunning for F1 titles. It will be interesting to see where they all end up eventually.

I think Albon will stay committed to Williams for some time. If Piastri or Norris leave Mclaren that may be a consideration. Mick to Williams might be a possibility but F1 need an American driver so there's that.

They also need an American Team but are adamant that they will not make way for Andretti.

Sargent could Join Haas I suppose but he needs room to grow not stagnate.

That said, however, I have been impressed by Haas this season, they are showing some good signs of a turn around and are now definitely mid field in terms of performance.

I think Haas will only go shopping for new drivers when they feel they have a car that's really and consistently competitive.
