Update after this morning's race. There are 6 Grand Prix and 3 sprints for a total of 180 points left this season. Max is 173 points ahead of Sergio, with everyone else already out of contention. For Max to clinch the title at the Qatar sprint he needs to finish no more than 1 place behind Sergio. It's getting to that time of the year to start getting the calculators out. There are 8 Grand Prix and 3 sprints left this year. That works out to 232 points still up for grabs.
Max is currently 145 points ahead of Checo, 194 ahead of Alonso and 200 up on Lewis. Everyone else is more than 232 back and mathematically out of contention. Assuming Max gets 26 points and Checo comes 2nd then Max will seal his 3rd WDC in Qatar.
Constructor-wise there are 397 points available. RB are 310 ahead of Merc, 355 ahead of Ferrari and 366 ahead of Aston. The earliest RB can wrap it would be Japan.
Based on his performances this year, and yes, Checo does have a contract for next year, but he shouldn't be surprised if he is demoted to the AT seat or event reserve driver role. Not a bad race, Max and Perez were in their own class again, unfortunately one was top class and the other the special needs class.
Well done to Max for winning the constructors for RB.
You want to destroy his career before it starts? RB can't multitask.Perez out and lawson in?
I have no idea what the point of that was. Just leave the guy. Penalties are moot if you DNF.LMAO! Perez had to take the 5s penalty?!
Not at all. Lewis was right. They'd have lost two places if he didnt get through. He's been shafted though.

I'm not arguing the rules, I'm arguing the point of the rules. If the penalty is dealt in the final lap, then sure, other than that just enforce it for the current race. The next race is another event. Not necessarily, they can be carried over if the stewards opt to do it.

Perez and Red Bull exposed a laughable F1 penalty loophole
Sergio Perez rejoining the Japanese Grand Prix 26 laps down just to avoid a potential grid penalty was a laughable piece of Formula 1 bureaucracy that needs to be prevented in future, says Valentin Khorounzhiywww.the-race.com
Article 54.3 of the sporting regulations covers what penalties the stewards may impose on any driver involved in an incident. This is the regulation that allows five/10-second penalties, drive-throughs and stop/go.
Section d of this reg contains a provision allowing the stewards to carry over a penalty if a driver cannot serve it in a race.
This states that: "If any of the four (4) penalties above are imposed upon a driver, and that driver is unable to serve the penalty due to retirement from the sprint session or the race, the stewards may impose a grid place penalty on the driver at his next race".
Debts still due to Honda IMO (Yuki)I'm really surprised that Alphatauri didn't take Lawon for 2024.
Wait they’re sending Perez out again?
"Box, box" to Perez
"Retire the car!"
What a circus
All is in order again in F1 land. Max was on a mission this weekend, my goodness did he just not dominate every day.
Well done to the Mclaren boys, future champs for sure. I really hope they can keep the momentum going for next year. Ferarri looks much better than earlier in the season, hopefully a few more podiums for them as well coming up. Merc looks avg at best atm. Where the hell has Aston's performance gone? Easy the biggest drop off of all
teams ito performance.
Perez, Stroll and Sargeant are right now the worst drivers on the grid. Sargeant one can still blame on him being a rookie, but the other two have no excuses. How much money is Stroll and Perez costing their respective teams?
Whatever RB is saying in interviews is probably the opposite of what is happening behind the scenes. I am betting that he does not drive next year.
Lawson is good enough to drive in F1, it is a pity he is not getting a seat for next year.
Put Danny Ric in there for a season and give Lawson the AT seat to gain experienceLet lawson take Perez's place...
Would be great to see, but at the same time I wouldn't want to put lawson in such a toxic and career ending seat.
No thank you.Put Danny Ric in there for a season and give Lawson the AT seat to gain experience
