According to the super sleuths on social media it's fire hydrant shut off valve that slides down into that hole with a piece of pipe with a cap on the end.

They didn't think that downforce created would cause this. New street circuit dilemma's I suppose.

I am looking forward to the racing but not what will likely be a typical American over the top build up. As for Brundle's grid walk, that could be cringe of note so I'll give that a miss.

I'm sure they were aware but if it's the concrete frame around the hole it's not as simple I suppose. I guess they need to come up with better ways to test such things besides running a ferrari over it during practice.

You can check on the replay, he was like wtf just happened, but ja imagine being behind a car that ripped that thing off. Decapitation likely.

Update: Ocon's chassis will be replaced.
