What happened? I stopped watching after the podium interviews.
The cooldown room have them sitting on a sofa behind a big glass window where all the fans with special passes are ogling them - cellphones out taking video just like at the zoo.

Almost as cringe as the limo ride in vegas

Not as cringe as some of the tiny boxes they’ve squeezed them into with 3 chairs and an oversized video screen and a throne or president in the corner looking on. Happy they’re more comfortable and facilities are being upgraded.

Unfortunately I can't find a reference to quote, but I did hear it during the commentary, apparently Toto was asked if the F1 W14 would be displayed in the Foyer or the Museum to which he replied, "The Marina."

The Max Verstappen podcast set is a classic

This was the first year that Merc was winless for many years

Also interesting that in MotoGp it was the first winless season for KTM

What this season highlighted for me was the severe talent pool deficiency in the aero department. Understandable considering the past few decades have been primarily about grip, grunt and fuel efficiency with aero being secondary. Add to that the reduced budgets and wind tunnel time, it's no wonder that an aero master has come out top by some margin. I only hope that the brilliant young engineering minds get a grip on the new style of car and what matters most. Nothing wrong with the general direction of the design but some FIA regs need to be relaxed and IMO artificial aids like DRS need to be canned. With the way the aero is working, DRS won't be required soon. Much smaller cars would be epic too.

KTM didn't win a race for its first 3 or 4 seasons in Motogp

Ja and so the year is over. Going to have to touch some grass these next 3 months.

I think some people will only realize in a few years from now, how special this year was. Even if you are not a RB fan, the absolute domination and record breaking year will not easily be broken, if ever and that has to be respected.

Now to watch for driver seats for 24. I reckon there are at least two seats still undecided on. Sargeant and Perez. Perez recent races looks a bit more promising, but I really think Sargeant is in the hot seat to be replaced.

Will 24 be Norris's first win? Will Mercedes fall even further now that they have to design a completely new car? Will Max moer them all again. Simply lovely to be a F1 fan.

Yip, 2023 is over with the expected results...
Surprise package - the Aston's, best improvement - hands down McLaren, overall winner ( as expected ) - Max Max, Super Super Max Max - Simply Lovely

@Hamster time to put up the McLaren will be winning the 2024 Season thread ;)

Also heard a stat that this is the first season since the inception of the championship that there wasn't a race winner from the UK.

/insert Jeremy Clarkson "Oh no, anyway..." meme here

Yeah some crazy records and stats this year.

First time a team leads a thousand laps in a season was also a crazy one.

Yeah the Mclaren come back was a big surprise this year. They looked pretty down and out for the season at the beginning.

Holding thumbs they can carry on improving. I am rooting for Lando's first win to come next year.

I must say out of all the races, Miami, Las Vegas, Monaco and Qatar was my favorite races. I think Max's dominance started at Miami as he raced past everyone, even his team mate. Monaco's Quali was just phenomenal. Las Vegas was so much fun racing even to the very end and Qatar was just so crazy with the weather fcking up the whole grid.

Oh and Australia was good fun too with all those crashes and stops.

Is Lando Norris not just another overhyped British driver like most of them? From the looks of his rookie season it seems that Piastri would be the more likely candidate for success at Mclaren.

Somebody blew his load too early and created it sometime last week already
Seeing as 2024 is already open then I will sign off with this:

I was expecting good things from Aston Martin this year but, I suppose it was inevitable that as much as Alonso was driving the car to its limits, daddys boy was acting as a millstone and dragging the team back down again.

On the upside though as a Lifelong Mclaran supporter I enjoyed the battle with Aston Martin for 4th in the championship.

Mercedes and Ferrari likewise had an enjoyable battle for 2nd Place.

The highlight of the year for me though was seeing how the rookies handled it with some, like Oscar, rising to the top and others not meeting expectations.

Ignoring Max, as the cameras did for most of the year, allowed us to focus on some interesting tassels in the mid field and all in all it was an enjoyable season.

The 2023 Season leaves all of the teams with a lot of work to do befor and after preseason testing in Feb 2024.

Catch you all in the New 2024 thread.

Cheers
Chris
