Maybe give the kakker teams a higher cost cap. I mean they got to catch up and then do some to try beat RB.
I hear you, but where do you draw the line? Im looking at young master Stroll and Alonso for example, how much additional money do you allow Aston Martin to throw at their car to close the 43 and 82 second gaps?

Im not a massive F1 fan but I do follow the results and watch the highlights. My question is how can this be "fixed"? Should this be addressed? You cannot really penalize a team/driver for pwning everyone else if they are not breaking the rules. The Red Bull team is just that good at the moment.

Ive seen a few muppets online crying that Max has the fastest car and thats the only reason why he is winning etc etc, but at the end of the day, in my limited opinion, he is doing a great job and he is showing considerable skill in handling said car. Lets be honest he is not winning by these massive margins just because his car is the best.

So, to reiterate my point, how do you level the playing field if one driver and his team just kicks ass (legally)?

Ban Adrian Newey from Formula 1. Problem solved... :p

In MotoGP, there is a concession system in place that allows the 'lesser' teams additional testing and track time in order to get them up to speed.

Perhaps F1 could adopt a similar model. There is only so much a wind tunnel or simulator will tell you but nothing beats sorting out issues on the track.
Maybe they should take a similar approach to T20 cricket and have auctions? At the end of the season the team is disbanded (maybe keep a few core people) and then auction off engineers and drivers, all teams have a capped budget.

I guess it will make things more exciting but they are running the risk of losing the excellence that teams like RB bring to the table because you will have almost no continuity.

No idea how much these things cost but throwing money at it will have an affect.

I would say it should be a percentage based on the ranking of the top driver of each time.
You don't want a poor driver sandbagging their team into extra money/testing.

You hire Newey as a consultant and he doesn't contribute to the cost cap / salary cap.

The cost cap has done more harm than good since any investment in development is only as good as short term returns until such time as it's evident they've gotten it wrong at which case development then shifts to the following years' car and the cycle repeats. Top teams could close the gap because they'd throw money at bonkers ideas right or wrong - now it's limited to very few ideas which if they don't pay off is the end of it. Then the bottom teams are just happy to be in the fight and have a surprise qualifying or midfield finish from time to time and have gotten rid of excel.

Why does it need fixing?
Every sport have its dominant team / individual and go through phases. It's natural and will never change.
To forcefully change rules and implement cost caps to artificially level the playing field in sports is wrong.

The "F1 show" got to big for its own best interests. Stop chasing the viewer and let F1 be the pinnacle of motoring sport again.

Exactly this.
And if F1 only consists of 6 or 7 teams, then so be it.

There was and there always will be a dominant driver and team.
However the last 10 years we got all these toxic fans.
Nothing will satisfy them except LH winning, the rest will all be boring and cheating.

You will see they never had problems with boring races, regulations or steward decisions while Hamilton was winning, it only became a problem now.

I think the cost cap should be removed in favour of any development put on the car being shared with all teams after a defined exclusivity period of time. Cost savings in more static/standardised components and other areas are probably better managmement of cost.

yeah very true, the rules are the same, the cars well depends on the manufacturer but the rules are still the same

the drivers you can see when they are brilliant ...charles hasnt been consistent

norris sadly has max ahead of him

russell also not the best

lewis sadly has a bad car

so i also dont know how to even the field a little

cos max is on his own , like i said ferrari perez mclaren and russell are the other contenders but they fighing each other

Thats roughly what Im thinking as well, hence me also asking "should it be addressed?"

f1 lost viewers cos of the changes they made

they introduced other changes to get new viewers

they now have a massive calendar cause of this and more races to come

look at soccer for example yes there is maybe one team dominating but not every game is the same, its a marathon and anything can happen

last season and this season we pretty much know the outcome

I'd argue they made short term gains for medium term losses and alienated a bunch of hardcore motorsport fans especially the purists. The FIA contributed by allowing and entertaining novel interpretation and nitpicking of rules.
