Well, Checo is officially f__ked now.

SkyF1's Craig Slater reporting that team principals were already aware of this Lewis move. No doubt Red Bull has already begun looking to secure a much stronger number 2 driver for 2025 to ensure all available points are bagged.

I’d argue that it’s been a carefully kept secret of at least a tentative agreement back to mid 2023 when the last rumors flew around the paddock.

Which tier 1 driver are they going to get to do that? None of them would be fine with playing second fiddle to Max. Only option is possibly someone who's on their way out anyway, like Alonso...

Lawson. They don't want an Alpha driver in that 2nd seat.

Doubt Ricciardo will get back to RB

Why would a team that spend millions on the best driver in the world, want an expensive great driver in the second car that might piss off their main driver?
I think RB is happy with Checo if but he needs a bit better season otherwise they will just get another "2nd" driver to play 2nd fiddle. Maybe a young one or Ricciardo. Alonso will never join a team if they say he must give preference to another driver. And RB will definitely not handout big money for a second driver.

Actually Ricciardo would be an option, given where he is now. But he's no better than Checo anyway, so why replace an established driver.

Similar argument goes for Lawson. If the intention is to bag as many points as possible, why go for an inexperienced rookie. You're just setting the lighty up to fail by measuring him against Max...

So the Ferrari board chased Hamilton, and not the other way around? And they wanted him for the ‘24 season?

Sainz must feel even worse..
