Yea for sure. Hope he gets a seat at VCARB next year if Lawson or Tsunoda get the RB seat.
I feel for Williams. As for VCARB or RB as an option I'd prefer somewhere else just based on their track record with volatility. I'll be happy if he gets a seat. I'll be happier if it's a more stable seat at least to give him a fair shot.

This whole "did Max cost Norris the win" thing - it's as if this is the first time people are watching F1.

Of course he did. This is wheel to wheel racing, not some time trial Rally where the fastest car and driver wins. You actually have to beat the opposition. Stupid.

The sensationalist and manufactured drama is peaking again.

That's quite an emotional response to a matter of fact....

Definitely wasn't legit, that much is obvious. The guy responsible for it was sacked. Many drivers refer to Lewis as the 8x.

Randomly interpreting the rules in a weird way which has never been done before, in a championship deciding race, is not "legit". If it was it wouldn't reek of nonsense and still get brought up to this day.

FML just because your driver wasn't the one who won you suddenly jump up and down and say it was illegal? The race director did follow the rules as set out, he is allowed to adjust them, so having 10 cars or whatever it was for the restart was perfectly within his legal framework.

Once again, if it was not then it would have been over turned <-- which it wasn't. The FIA deemed him correct AS PER THE REGS

  • Just out of interest, if all 20 cars or however many it was were ready, and at the restart Max still won the race, would you still be throwing your toys? YES or NO

Kevin Magnussen ruled out of Friday running as he is reportedly feeling unwell. Oliver Bearman to take his place. Curious as to what happens though between Magnussen's start place on the grid if Bearman does qualifying. Assume he would have to start from either the back or the pitlane. Doesn't seem fair to other drivers to essentially have someone do your qualifying for you and then grab his starting position.

Ollie Bearman getting waaayy more races in 2024 than he could ever have dreamed.
Really good prep for 2025

Edit: I'm sure he'll dodge a flying Albon missile this time

Masi wouldn't have been fired and had an NDA if it were above board and neither would they have launched an enquiry and addressed the errors made. There have also been requests for audio and video records not in the public domain which have been denied. Think what you want about that.

There are two things which are the most fundamentally flawed that wouldn't stand up to scrutiny if they could have been challenged independently of the FIA's framework:

1) The partial unlapping of the field has no basis in any regulation other than an idiotic reliance that "any lapped cars" doesn't mean "all lapped cars". No-one would interpret that clause as being selective. Allowing the entire field to uncap would've ended the race under safety car. From a sporting perspective those who were stuck behind cars which weren't allowed to unlap were prejudiced as a result too. It's thus invalidated on procedural and fairness basis.
2) Max moving in front of Hamilton briefly prior to the restart is undoubtedly a 5s penalty.

It is what it is. Max will be the 2021 Champion as per the record books but it will always be considered illegitimate to varying extent.

The FIA’s own inquiry confirmed that Massi made errors in his decisions. Legitimising the outcome was merely to save face. Most blind people listening to the race on radio know it was manipulated.

I expected more froth. Please, try again, this level of righteous indignation is subpar and, frankly, a little disappointing.

Whichever driver enters qualifying is the driver the team has officially entered into the race.

If Bearman qualifies, he will be their race entrant.

so you refuse to answer one simple question....

clap clap clap
Sorry, when I see that much stupidity I assume it's rhetorical.

If Max won the race legitimately I would congratulate him all the way. It was a fantastic race season and both drivers deserved to win, so I wouldn't have any issue at all if he won. He deserved to. As did Lewis.

The issue people have is in the way it was done and all the nonsense secrecy and whatnot afterward. Because it was illegitimate.

But no, I have no issue with Max being the winner, only with the way in which the victory was handed to him in a manner which disproportionately affected other drivers negatively.

So because YOU don't like the rules & regulations it means it's your way or the highway?

The race director has the authority to decide whether to allow lapped cars to unlap themselves. According to FIA regulations, this can vary depending on the circumstances.

The race director has the ultimate say... that's what the rules said and Masi decided to let Max & Lewis race. Now because your driver didn't win you now throw your toys. Sorry but sometimes Senna won and sometimes Prost won, you can't please both camps.

Just the sprint though

I suppose if Magnussen is well enough for the race quali, he'll take over. If not, its Ollie's weekend.

What a mad year for Ollie if he scores points AGAIN.
