Madrid to join Formula 1 calendar from 2026

Formula 1 has announced that the Spanish Grand Prix will be held in Madrid from 2026 to 2035 following an agreement with IFEMA MADRID to bring an all-new circuit to the Spanish capital, incorporating both street and non-street sections.

One of these days F1 will be indistinguishable from Formula E with all of their street circuits or a Go-Kart race
 
If they're going to keep adding street tracks then they really need to change the cars. Can't keep having these heavy wide cars.

That's one thing I noticed about sprint races, the cars are so agile at the start because of the low weight of the fuel.

Which is a bit ironic since one of the major criticisms of FE by F1 fans is that they need have racing on purpose built circuits to make FE more credible.

Apparently they will be referred to as V-CARB. We need an Afrikaans commentator now to describe a battle between Stake and V-CARB. Wonder if he'd call them Vleis en Rys?
 
Today I found myself wondering about Guenther Steiner doing commentary on a race for Sky...

I think it would be really entertaining and can already hear him correcting Crofty.

I’d even enjoy Bahrain if that happened. Guenther is going to be the biggest loss this year.
 
I recall reading sometime in the past that Netflix had approached Guenther to do / script an "the Office" type comedy show based on F1.
Not my style of humour but it would attract many fans, and mostly American, so I don't think we should write him off just yet.
DtS may have made him famous but he may well transcendent it.
