One of the reasons I love the off-season (and by extension, an uncompetitive season) is all the kak-praat that happens. Some of it turns out to be true/accurate. A lot of it is just people farming clicks or inciting speculation/drama.

It is sometimes amusing to watch though.

I'm just stunned that Jos Verstappen seems to have so much sway in that team. He's not a Red Bull employee or shareholder is he? He's only Max's father and at best, his agent. So why he gets to rek his bek so much is crazy.

Because he is Max's father and management. Max is the hottest property in F1 right now, that brings a lot of power.

Max to Merc rumours seem to be gaining traction. If Horner stays, I can see him pushing for an exit.

It is likely that Max's Dad is just echoing what Max feels about the situation.

He is likely saying what Max feels about this situation. It's much more complicated for Max to say what Jos is saying due to contract and sponsorship reasons so this is the roundabout way.

Max has not publicly supported Horner which is indicative even though he was reportedly encouraged to do so.

Or he's abusing his position as a father to influence what Max is thinking.

Taking the noise out of it, why would Max want to leave a championship-winning car because his boss wanted to get some side poon?

It's hard to speculate but we simply don't know the working environment Max is in. He will only really be able to give clarity once he ends his partnership with RB due to PR policies they have in place.

People leave high paying jobs all the time because they are not happy in the environment. F1 drivers are also humans at the end of the day.

It is not the first time something like this would have happened also. IMO, Schumacher would have won the 2008 Championship had he stayed on with Ferrari. He apparently did not want to retire but had some disagreements with Ferrari management.

It's hard to say if something similar could be going on with Max.

The toxic environment is because of those opposing Horner i.e. twats like Marko, and they're in Max's corner. Horner is too, everyone is on Max's side because nobody wants him to leave.

Jos is abusing is role as a father to sway Max towards the side he likes...
