We don't know. That could be the case or they could have had a convo behind closed doors and Max agrees with everything he says and Jos is the roundabout way to do it without breaking RB policy.

We will only really know once they eventually end their partnership.

The only way Max is leaving is if Newey jumps ship.

This year is going from bad to worse, if that happens next year would be messed up confusing.

Let's hope this rumour stays just that.

Mhhm, would Jos say something without the consent of Max though? This is not a Mick/Michael Schumacher type relationship. It's a relationship where Jos needs Max more than Max needs Jos.
 
Finished the latest season of Drive to Survive recently. Based on what Horner said, it does look like this season is Ricciardo's audition for the Red Bull seat (probably Perez's seat). It does not look like they exactly view Yuki as RB material. Honey Badger just needs to have a decent season and score points regularly.

Ricciardo is still okay in a support role. You need to partner a WDC level driver with a Bottas level driver to prevent major conflict.

Who knows, but it seems the big issues atm at RB is the power struggle between Austria and Thailand. Thai owners have a 51% stake in Red Bull so they have the final say. Apparently they are in Horner's camp and the Austrian side (Marko etc) wants Horner out.

I’m also struggling to see why it is Max’s business whose tail Horner is chasing.

If Max goes to Merc it would be for personal reasons (e.g. more money, tired of being a 1 man team, believing Merc will come good again, etc.).
 
The other rumor which kinda makes sense to me tbh is the one that Horner wants to buy out the F1 team from Red Bull.

Ala Merc, where there is a three way stake holder ownership of the team(Merc, Toto and Petronas), it seems Horner wants to take the power away from the Austrian side, who is currently the main decision makers ito the day to day running of the racing team. This is why there is a power struggle going on. The Thai owners seems to be on board with Horner and they have the final say.

It is quite feasible that this entire smear campaign could be fake and just a way to try and tarnish Horners rep and possibly drive him out before this "deal" goes any further.

Yeah, it is politics. Cheating is very common in the sporting world and Horner is very unlikely to be the only one on the grid doing something like this.

He could have been having affairs for long and now somebody in a political skirmish with him wants to release this to advance their case.

There were also accusations that Max's Dad was behind the leak of the texts which he denied so who knows, maybe there is a political battle between the Verstappen's and Horner now and Verstappen may leave if Horner wins.

You can't shorten the Red Bull name like that anymore, AlphaTauri is now RB, as stupid as that is.

Could even be why Mohammed is being investigated now, didn't he come out in defense of Horner the other day?
