F1 2024

Daniel shouldn't even be in F1 anymore and Helmut has already publicly commented on his driving this season. I've said it for years now, he's passed his peak.

I have my doubts that Yuki would have ever made it to F1 without Honda. Another Stroll. Some talent, but ultimately connections got him his F1 seat and continue to keep him there.

Neither are worthy of a Red Bull seat.

I would be in contact with Sainz right now, and they probably are. Best case scenario: Max stays and you decide on Checo or Sainz. Worst case scenario: Max leaves, you sign Sainz and then extend Checo for another season. Not the most exciting lineup, but two solid drivers in what would be a transitional year. Watch Albon as his contract is up in 2025 along with Russell's. The three, prime real estate young drivers (Leclerc, Norris and Piastri) are locked out of Red Bull's reach for a while.

Albon has improved a lot. He may be able to now win races in the right car.

Hi driving this season shows that he should not be a contender. The DTS woohoo paints a picture, but you see him doing doughnuts in the middle of a race and it doesn't inspire confidence.

Maybe he got too used to the media position that he had to have to do promos and stuff, now he cannot distinguish between a race and a media day, so he just decided to do donuts to be safe

Horner more or less mentioned in the latest Drive to Survive season that this is his trial for the RB seat.

2 races in it is clear that Yuki is faster. Was 5 tenths faster in quali last week.

He also can't blame the car etc because he had time with it last year already. They should have given Lawson the seat. Horner has a bond with Daniel and I think it is clouding his judgement. I think he should be hired by either the F1 TV or Sky sports team and do interviews. That would be fun. Everybody loves him, but as a racing driver, I think his days are numbered.

I now have to agree with you. Daniel is starting to be left behind and I am seeing another year like his last at Mclaren. Time to call it a day :(

Like Max said, something crazy would have to happen for him to leave. It all depends on who really has more power behind the curtain. Austria or Thailand. I think if Marko does get let go, Max will jump into the Merc, knowing that 2026 is around the corner.

If Max does go to Merc, that suddenly puts young George in the firing line as I don't think Mercedes will want to let that Antonelli chap slip through their fingers

I cant see Merc putting Kimi Antionelli straight into a Merc.

looking back at Kimi's career he usually takes about 3 races to get to speed with the team and Machinary then he starts to really show his skills.

Ideal senario for merc would be kimi wins F2.
Williams take kimi for 2025.
2 seasons in a williams
2027 Move to Merc.
2028 WDC for Kimi who will be fighting with George. by then already.

Prema have not been doing well wiht Kimi so far this year. feels like they are struggling to get teh car set up correctly. but they will come right soon enough its Prema they are the Ferrari fo F2 after all.

I am thinking more of sack MV and spend lots of money to sign Kimi A for Red Bull.
In another year or two he will be the new MV.

The only young talent they would have immediate access to is Sainz, Ocon and Gasly, and of the three I am taking Sainz.

I'm a bit skeptical about Sainz's consistency levels. To me, he seems like a modern day Barrichello. Maybe he can one day be a WDC contender but he will need luck to be in his favor as it was with Barri in 2009 when he challenged for the WDC and lost to Jenson Button.

Alonso could be a short term fix for RB. In the right machinery, he can be a WDC contender.

Agree, the question is if Max leaves, when does he leave...

Probably Merc. They can afford him if he is up for a rebuilding project.

I can see Merc going for a former Champion for brand reasons. If not Verstappen, they will probably try Alonso and there were rumours that they could even ask Vettel to come out of retirement. Apparently Vettel is not against a comeback provided it is the right project.

I feel that if Seb comes back he will work a clause in to make sure Mic gets a drive.

that is a name that should be in talks that people are just ignoring.

I would love to see Mic come in with Seb as a Sim driver and more hands on mentor for Mic.

Daniel is a likeable guy and very charasmatic. The impression I get is that he is also popular among the drivers on the grid so yes, that does help him.

Mick had some bad luck but he also did not do enough to prove himself. He should have scored more points for Haas.

There was talk he could be a contender for Audi but more so because they will want German associations rather than because they want him for his skill. Apparently, this was also the reason Ralf Schumacher got the Williams drive back in the day once they partnered with BMW.

Sainz is 100% a modern day Barrichello, and there is nothing wrong with that. He would do better than Checo in a Red Bull. Look at Barrichello in 2002 and 2004 when the Ferraris were untouchable. He couldn't touch Michael but he was rarely troubled by the rest. Checo was very inconsistent last season and too often found himself goofing around with slower cars.

I feel what Mic managed to do in that Haas, with no one around him to help find his feet in the sport was enough.

no matter who the rookie is that you put in the car next to Moerse spin for his first season would be very much at a disadvantage. you cant do double rookie unless you have a team principle that has experience with rookies, and Gunther was not that man. maybe Fred or Toast would be able to do better but we cant see his career ended because he was in the worst car on the grid with no experience and no way to really learn. if Danny Ric could get a second chance after his disaster with Mclaren, and Kmag and Hulk can have second chances Mic deserves one.

I think if he was in the Williams next to people will take note. I think that would be a close contest between team mates and I highly rate albon.

BMW did indeed have a stipulation that Williams have a German driver, but Ralf was objectively a very good and promising driver at the time, who had podiums under his belt.

As it was, Eddie Jordan didn't want to let him go (and Eddie had an eye for talent), Michael literally had to buy him out of his contract so he could join Williams.

Yet he's been eclipsed in one race by what Lawson did in an Alpha Tauri, who were last before he scored the first points for them.

Or what Russell and Albon have done in a Williams, which is arguably a worse team...

Mick was outperformed by KMag on his return. Coupled with the tendency to trash his car, that was a hammer blow to his reputation that is proving hard to overcome.

Yeah, Steiner was pretty mad at the money that Mick cost them with his crashes. He mentioned that it ran into the millions. He may have not been released if he could just keep the car on the track.
