Was out the whole day, did not see qualifying but when I saw that this thread is quiet I knew something happened to Hamilton. Did he run out of tires or talent?

In rands wasn’t like R300,000 ? Perez at least had some warning. Lewis had no warning. I really don’t like drivers getting penalized for this especially on circuits which aren’t real tracks. Why drivers can’t get an approaching car automated warning notice 10s ahead is beyond me but more so impediment should be intentional and not due to lack of time to respond or no notice. These stewards have zero consistency too.
 
Had a look at the minimum speed at the famous Melbourne turn 11 and thought it was cool to see the evolution

226kmh - 2012 V8 generation with Coanda effect exhausts
224kmh - 2015 Hybrid generation
242kmh - 2017 new aero generation
262kmh - 2019 super wide wing generation
*Sadly we never got to see Hamilton's 2020 beast due to COVID*
245kmh - 2022 generation with better overtaking aero
254kmh - 2023 evolution with less ground effect due to porpoising (and yet they went faster!)
256kmh - 2024 aka Verstappen's 4th championship


2025 we get slightly more restrictive front wing endplates + floor edges + brake ducts and the new 2026 regulations are going to make them much slower.

Ric has been struggling for years now but horny spice loves the guy so he’s probably headed to RBR max or no max. Yuki imho is in better form but Lawson deserves a seat ahead of Ricciardo regardless.

It would be a dumb support role unless they’re banking on his poor form but RB have plenty Red Bull juniors in the pipeline - more than they need which would be better long term for a support role than Ric. Sergio threw a stone in the works and retirement is the only exit where RB doesn’t end up with egg on their face.

The only problem for them is if Max leaves because they can't really bank on a youngster to challenge for the WDC rightaway. That's the only case in which they may have to hire from outside.

They need more young talent coming through to develop over a few years to prepare for Max's exit, he wont be around forever and I don't think he's going to be around to beat LH's record, I would personally love to see Max trying out for something like the Le Mans series or even Fanatech GT series in the future, Tsunoda doesn't strike me as someone I would want in my team with that temper of his.

I have also started to wonder now if Max has the will or interest to match Hamilton and Schumi. Burnout for him will also be very real considering how long he started out.

There comes a point where everyone realizes that there is more to life than work and Max may be at that point now.

Guys like Hamilton and Alonso seem like they are in it for the long-haul. I can see Hamilton going for another five years and Alonso will probably only leave when he has no other choice.

As for Tsunoda,he is still very young. We sometimes forget these guys are just humans. We all changed compared to ourselves in our early 20s and I imagine Yuki will as well.

There are exemptions but in general, most people become calmer with age and experience. Most people also cringe when they think of how they behaved when they were 23 (Yuki's current age).

As Blink 182 said in their song "no one likes you when you're 23".

Ric seems like one of the best liked guys among the drivers on the grid and probably takes a good vibe into any team that he joins. I think his personality played a big role in him getting a second life in F1.

A healthy team environment is needed for success. In some cases, it may be beneficial to have Ric in the team over an oke who is more in form but will bring bad vibes to the team and be difficult to work with.

He's liked because he's not competing against them, and still smiles after losing to them. Who doesn't like a guy like that at work...

He has also played a big role in making Drive to Survive the success that it is so the F1 marketers probably want him involved more than guys like Bottas, Checo etc.

Being likeable is a terrible criteria to consider for an F1 seat when there is very real young talent waiting in the wings. He’s had his chance after is initial limited RBR success at McLaren, Renault and now the 2nd rb team for the second time- he should consider another Motorsport and be likeable there. 8 wins in 14 seasons and 1 win in the past 6 is not great.
