no man i think sainz has talent and is a good driver and a good number 2 ...at red bull or merc given the chance he will win one

he is throwing his life away joining williams
But thats the problem, he has shown that he will not be a nr 2 driver. He will cry on the radio and not move over when his teammate is faster. Did you forget 2022, how many times he screwed Leclerc over?

mclaren ferrari merc red bull all have number 1s

other teams are not that great
Merc is an option I reckon for 1 year if Antonelli isn't rushed. I still don't see Russell as a first seat. He has seniority in the team, that's all. But I think if he was hired by Merc he'd be competing directly against Russell for a future seat. Sainz unless he starts winning race after race OR max leaves RB is going to have to pick from whats available in the bottom 5.

my thoughts on the weekend
Race was a snooze fest. and the fact that the strategy was to slow to to prevent pit stop gaps goes against the idea of F1. this was exactly as expected only they somehow made it worse.

Quali was very good. the gap between the top 4 teams is so small its almost not relevant anymore. this is a good sign for races to come.

the fact that the Merc cars were on pace though practice and even kept up in Quali was a big suprise. maybe they will come though at the end of the season and actually get some race wins.

the Mclarens look like they will be fighting redbull for the rest of the season. and Oscar kept on impressing. I am looking forward toa tight battle between Oscar and Lando might get interesting.

I am looking forward to CAnada. its again bumpy so the Stiff Redbull wont go well there. maybe its bumpy enough that we have a 4 way fight for pole and for the race win. most likely it will be a 2 way fight for first and a 2 way fight between Merc and Whoever is not quite set up for the track for 4th to 8th.

People using F1tv, was the race fine? Started with the F1tv stream on my iptv but the sound was 1min behind the picture so just watched the Sky stream. But F1tv quality is normally a bit better. Don't know if the problem was with F1tv or my iptv.
It was fine on my side, although I watched the stream after the race. What a waste of time. The F2 race was fun to watch. F1 needs to bring some excitement to the boring, predicable Monaco GP. Why not run the race only on Softs? Better still, take away the option to change tyres during red flags. Also, there is probably a technical explanation to Sainz's reinstatement to P3 after the 1st lap incident, but come one!

Sainz's issue is that he is not a team player, but he definitely has talent.
Well to be in F1 you have to have some talent. But I don't think he has enough talent to be a champion. So then you either nr2 at big team or nr1 at a small team, like Bottas. Albon etc. If Perez went back to a small team he would probably be nr1 again.

if perez furks up another race what are the chances red bull grab sainz and offers him a contract and fire perez mid season

I honestly think after his last two display's (Monaco wasn't his fault, but he put himself in that position with bad quali) and the fact that the constructors is now up for grabs, if he does not deliver consistent points in the top 4-5 positions every race, I think RB might just pull a move come summer break and put a Lawson in that car for the rest of the season. Last year was fine due to Max doing all the heavy lifting, but now the team needs a strong number 2. RB is at fault though, they should have let him go last year tbh.

Yeah he definitely has talent, but there is just nowhere to go where he will be number 1. He should take that Audi deal even if it means a year or two down the order. Williams sees Albon as number 1, Merc with Russel and Antonelli as the future. RB will have Max and I don't think they want that smoke ala Rosberg, Hamilton.

But didn't RB offer Perez another 1 year deal? Then they would not just let him go middle of the year. They seem "relatively" happy with him.

His top options are Merc (Hamilton/Rosberg scenario), Red Bull (#2 driver).

His kak options are Williams (Hamilton/Rosberg again but with a worse team), RB (if Yuki is promoted or Ricciardo is given the boot), Haas (lol) and Sauber (take a break for a year and join for 2026)...

Alpine might be a super wild option for Sainz. Don't think they've signed either Ocon or Gasly for 2025... ? There's the french thing though although ocon is apparently sought after..

Yeah offered but I don't think signed. If he continues to put the team under pressure, that "offer" might fall away very quickly.

If I was in his position, I would take the Audi deal. He needs to realize his chances of WC is over for now. Merc won't be contending in '25 and it looks like Toto is holding on that Max jumps ship for 26 and/or Antonelli.

Ferrari is booked.
Mclaren is booked.
Aston is booked.

RB might open up in '26 if Max decides to jump, so there is that option but all signs are pointing that Ferrari, Merc and Mclaren will be top dogs again come 26 with the unknown for RB's engines.

Williams could be a viable option purely based on the Merc engine deal, but yah.. nowhere to go really to be in the top 6 again next year unless he drives for Merc or RB on a 1 year deal.

Antonelli hasn't even managed a podium this year in F2. He definitely won't have a seat in F1 next year. Audi looks to be Sainz's best outlook for now.

Well, the way he is going, it is going to cost RB the constructors title. He is nowhere and doesn't contribute anything. Apparently RB did offer him a year contract, but he has countered and wants two.

It amazes me that he actually thinks he is worth 2 years. That already tells me there is no real reflection on his performance and is only trying to squeeze as much out of RB as he can. He knows he probably wont get a seat after RB. Even the lower tier teams will probably get young drivers in with the likes of Bearman, Antonelli and Lawson in the wings who will be cheaper in any case.
