F1 2024

Lewis Hamilton entered F1 at the top, so he never had to build his career by scrapping it out in a Minardi or Caterham

Sure he was lucky with being signed into a strong Mclaren in 2007 and 2008.

After that though he had to work for wins for 6 years before Merc hit the Jackpot with their hybrid engine in 2014. Nah man, he had enough scraps and years of racing in between his champs. I might not rate him the goat, but he is definitely in the top echelon of drivers of all time.

There are three Grands Prix in the US and talks of another one. The US accounts for the biggest slice of F1 merchandise sales.

Perez is hugely popular in the US because of the significant Mexican diaspora, even outselling Max in that country.

There is also a Mexican Grand Prix, where Perez obviously dominates merchandise sales. The Mexican market was the fastest growing market for F1 merchandise sales when Perez joined Red Bull.

In 2022, only Hamilton, Leclerc, Verstappen and Russell sold more merchandise than Perez.

Perez is not a threat to Max.

That is why Red Bull have opted to stick with him. He generates merchandise sales and is a non-threatening #2. It is even in F1's best interests that he remains with a top team because they benefit from the merchandise sales as well.

I see LH is still living rent free in people's heads giving them nightmares. his racing was not even being discussed rather his ability to double dab on the last dab and go into da bomb for a second round with an additional last dab. but yet people want to talk about how lucky he was or whatever.

his greatest strength is just how bothered people are by how good he is. He hasn't won a race since 2021 and people are still talking about him

the only thing more sad than the people randomly popping up with hate for him is the people who then go and attack those who defend him.

there are 2 more races in the USA then there needs to be.
there is an american Driver on the grid and yet his merch doesnt sell. but skill level between seargant and checo is quite large.
there is also a canadian driver on the grid and you never see anyone in Stroll Merch.....

Perez is kept on at RB because if he is let go he will leave the sport and write a book and that book will create lawsuits that will change things.
just think about the amount of Drit he has from the pink Mercedes.
how about behind the scenes info from the Helmut Marco/christian Horner saga from earlier this year?
what about the racisst allegations against Marco from last year?
what about the "catering budget" saga?
what about from what happened when he got the title the Mexican minister of defence? you really think his money and connections did not assist in the choice Massi made?

Red bull cannot afford to let Checo go until he wants to be let go. simple as that.

there is also a canadian driver on the grid and you never see anyone in Stroll Merch.....

Because they walked into the wall on outside of the bend on their way out in public, so they needed to go to the medical office, hence the reason you never see them in public

Seems like he is definitely living in your head.

How does any of this change what I said? Those US races exist, and more are likely to come. Perez generates money, and he generates a lot of it in the US.

Not sure why you brought up Stroll and Sargent. They don't sell, Perez does. Which is my point. Perez sells.

You've gone off the deep end here.

Same same but same, then.

Well not quite same same

Among the key takeaways is that the cars are lighter, shorter and narrower than before – with 30kg knocked off the current minimum weight, taking that down to 766kg.

On top of that, the cars will be reduced in size, 200mm shorter and 100mm narrower than their current size, with the FIA aiming to make a more ‘nimble’ car moving forward.

Active aerodynamics had also been mooted, and this will be the case. DRS will no longer be an overtaking aid, but the FIA confirmed the movable rear wing will instead open automatically on straights so as to reduce drag at each possible opportunity, with more moving parts in the rear wing.

Additionally, a new part will be the addition of active front wings, which will have moving parts in the same way as DRS to suit the energy demands of the new power units, which will be powered by fully sustainable fuel.

- ‘Nimble car’ concept at the heart of 2026 Technical Regulations targets improved raceability and closer racing

- 2026 cars will be 30kg lighter than current generation F1 cars improving efficiency and handling

- Redesigned power unit builds on world’s most efficient engines with almost 300% more battery power and even split between Internal Combustion and Electric power

- Active aerodynamics to suit the energy management requirements of new power units

- Increased overtaking opportunities through new Manual Override Mode granting more electrical power deployment for the following car

- Record number of six power unit manufacturers with Ferrari, Mercedes, Alpine, Honda, Audi and Red Bull Ford Powertrains committed to F1 from 2026

- 2026 cars to run on 100% sustainable fuel

- Improved safety through stronger structures and even tougher tests

- The wheelbase drops from a maximum of 3600mm to 3400mm, while the width has been reduced from 2000mm to 1900mm. The maximum floor width will be reduced by 150mm.

- Weight reduction has been a key goal and 2026 cars will have a minimum weight of 768kg – down 30kg on their counterparts from 2022. This is made up of 722kg Car and Driver + 46kg estimated tyres mass.

- Downforce has been reduced by 30% and drag by 55%.

- The 18-inch wheel size introduced in 2022 is being retained, though the width of the front tyres has been reduced by 25mm and the rears by 30mm but with minimal loss in grip.

- The 2026 cars will also benefit from all-new Active Aerodynamics systems. The system, involving movable front and rear wings, will result in greater cornering speeds with standard Z-Mode deployed. On straights drivers will be able to switch to X-Mode a low-drag configuration designed to maximise straight-line speed.

- A three-element active rear wing will be adopted, while the lower beam wing has been removed and end plates have been simplified.

- The front wing will be 100mm narrower than currently and will feature a two-element active flap.

- In contrast to the current cars, front wheel arches will be removed, and part of the wheel bodywork will be mandated, to help achieve optimal wake performance.

- In-washing wheel wake control boards will sit on the front of the side pods to assist with the control of the wheel wake.

- The cars will feature a partially flat floor and a lower-powered diffuser, which will reduce the ground effect and the reliance of the cars on ultra-stiff and low set-ups.

- The FIA’s rigorous pursuit of safety is upheld in the 2026 Formula 1 regulations.

- Revised front impact regulations introduce a two-stage structure to avoid incidents in recent years where the front impact structure (FIS) has broken-off close to the survival cell after an initial impact, leaving the car unprotected for a subsequent impact.

- Side intrusion protection has been increased. The new specification gives improved intrusion protection around the cockpit and more than doubles the protection given by the side of the fuel cell. Additionally, the improved intrusion protection will be achieved without adding weight.

- Roll hoop loads have been increased from 16G to 20G in line with other single seater formulas and test loads increased from 141kN to 167kN.

- Rear wing endplate lights will be homologated and significantly more visible/bright than current ones. Lateral safety lights will be introduced to identify the ERS status of a car stopped across the track.

- The GPS antenna is being repositioned to improve sensitivity and to allow for future developments in active safety.

- From 2026 Formula 1 power units will run on fully sustainable fuel, underscoring the commitment to environmentally responsible racing and setting a new standard for motorsport.

Huge changes, sounds like an interesting direction.

Yea I meant design-wise. They are smaller but not a massive amount, not as much as they need to be I don't think. Still, it's a step in the right direction I suppose.

Yeah, wonder how much the design is impacted by the current ground effect regulations. If those regs remain in place after 2026 then the look will probably remain pretty static too.
