I agree that he does seem to have the most potential. Then again I thought similar of Lando too. I hope Lando sticks around to compete but my gut is he ditches Mclaren if Oscar had to take the lead. Mclaren has the strongest driver pairing for their trajectory and future at the moment.

Wasn't it 1 or 2 seasons ago they had a great plan - now its all turning to dog turd... both their cars retired from Le Mans with mechanicals as well - its a mess

I don't believe their powertrain is the issue. Heck, they yanked a driver and the powertrain from RB and still didn't improve things. Clearly there's some dynamic within that team that's hindering them in areas they aren't or are failing to consider.
 
Lando for me is more human Oscar is more robot, and that's why i think he's going to take over

23 was his first year in F1. Lando has been racing since 2018, I think..

This year he seems to be closing the gap and to be fair I believe the planning around races still favors Lando, as it should as the number 1 driver in the team, but once Oscar starts qualifying better than Lando etc those race strats will most likely start favoring him in the future.

Yeah, confidence still needs to grow. Max had too much of it in the beginning and took a lot of risks in his early years that caused quite a few accidents
