Lando needs to stop this post race sulking. It's really annoying victim mentality. Now that he's won a race, it's like he feels hard done by when he misses out on another win.

That's not how sport works. To win, you and your team need to be the fastest and the most consistent. Driver and team not ticking all those boxes yet.

As a Max fan, happy for our P2 today after it was looking like a P6. Also happy for Lewis - it's been a hell of a long dry spell for the guy.

How sure are we that Mclaren made the call to go on softs? In post race interviews it seems as Landi suggested he made wrong calls.

So both of Max's stops: Max decided when to box and instructed GP when that time was. For the switch to dry, there was no discussion - team handled the decision for Hards - Max just said when he wanted to box.

Norris's radio messages for the dry tyre were such a mess. Will asks what tyre, Lando says Soft. Thereafter for at least 2 laps they go back and forwards whether to go medium or soft until Lando is actually no longer sure which one. Will even says Oscar took a Medium.

Far too much discussion over the radio in my opinion. Driver doesn't have all the tyre data etc and can only give track conditions feedback.

That was the strategy difference between those 2 teams dry tyre calls today.

Jissie, I am not a Lewis fan, but hell I was screaming at that TV yesterday edging him on. Super happy for the guy and you can see what emotional baggage he has been carrying around since 2021.

Can anybody explain to me what the hell was up with that RB20. Hell at one point Max was losing .4 seconds per lap to the front 5 and then the last 10 laps he was doing .4+ more than the rest ... It almost looked staged at one point. But ja, he drove very well that last stint to get 2nd and it seems the car came alive? those last 15 odd laps on the hards.

Mclaren fcked it up not only with Norris but more so with Oscar, not double stacking cost him.

Hopefully the rumors are true and Perez is out one of these days. But bringing in Danny will not solve any of the issues, doubtful he will do any better,

I have to agree with you, I was thinking the same yesterday. He sulks way too much. Toughen up kid. You dont see Max crying if things dont go his way.

For his first stop, Max requested 4 clicks of front wing. That sounded like quite a bit of adjustment and they did indeed do it at the stop - I wonder if that fixed the balance which he was clearly lacking in the first stint.

If that is the case, give credit to this dude. Fixes the pace issue and chooses the correct tyre strat..

I get the idea he wants to be the star/hero. Its all about the fanfare and attention for him. Can see it in the way he hit the Champagne bottles.
Pity we don't get monthly popularity polls in f1 like with US elections. Think he will be dropping week by week with all his crying.

Driver of the day is a bit of a popularity poll. I haven't paid attention to it in ages but might be interesting having a look see.

I personally think yesterday was one of Verstappen's greatest drives. With a car that was so much slower he just showed that you can never count him out.

as always Silverstone delivers a fantastic race with so much going on.

I really enjoyed every part of the weekend. track evolution was making it difficult to predict who was looking best.

I think Meclaren took a game not double stacking Oscar when Merc double stacked LH and GR. the lap time on the in lap was still about 10 seconds off the pace, and that is the same as the times of a Inter (between 10 and 12 seconds per lap slower than slicks) so I understand splitting the strategey, and keeping Oscar in the fight on a different strategy and inters that last a little longer, but the rain came down too much and his last lap on slicks was 20 seconds slower than what LH did on his outlap.

the last stop for slicks and Lando going to soft instead of Medium was Lando's call, the team gave both hiim and Oscar the option he chose the Soft and that was what cost him second place to Max, but even with Mediums he would not have been able to catch Lewis. the low temps plays too much into the favor of that Merc. hotter race weekends the Merc will not be nearly as good.

I am super happy for LH. it was really inspirational to hear him talk about how hard he had to work to keep himself mentally fit though this difficult time. if someone who has achieved as much as he has can have self doubt when the issue is clearly with the car over that time helps me put into context things that I have been worried about in my life that are beyond my control.
and hearing his messages to the team, seeing him hug his father like that and then going out to the crowd to thank them like that before going into the cooldown room shows just how much he wanted this.
I feel his celebration shows more about his character than the others we have seen recently.

5 winners in 5 races.
now all we need is Ferrari to fix the bouncing issues, and for Oscar to get his first win this year still.

also can we take a second to talk about the Hass upgrades? I feel like Hass has shot up the order with this upgrade and might be ahead of Aston Martin now. but again its one race with changing conditions maybe the low temps also helped them the way it helped Merc push the most out of the car?

Can't say I agree, nothing against Max, but that 2nd had so much to do with things going wrong for others, whether retirements or just plain idiotic strategy decisions. Mclaren utterly botched it along with Russel's unfortunate DNF, Max would've been p5 instead. Good job making sure he was there to capitalise, yes, but not one of his greatest drives, quite opportunistic imho, like Russel's win previously, when Max and Lando tangled late in the race.

max and RB made good decisions ....yes he capitalised but it was strategic decisions

if he had 4 more laps or so he would have won

but norris not taking a medium was his downfall
