so my thoughts on the disaster that was the race.
Mclaren are clowns and made Oscar's first win feel hollow. Lando was better they messed up with the strategy and should have left it. if Oscar caught up lando would have let him past, but giving up a 5.5 second gap to give up the lead was just weak. very well done by Lando, I am surprised he did it.

Max under pressure shows just how he is not a good driver, he has just had a good car, a good driver does not act that way on the radio. that was shameful but Max fans will find ways to defend his words.
that being said even as a Max hater, there was something wrong with the set up of that red bull all weekend. it was not understeering as much and there was way more over steer than normal, that left max in a position where he could not drive to his strengths and that cost him the race. I don't think it was damage I think it was a set up choice, and the fact that Perez could actually drive the car this weekend helps that observation.

Lewis v Max crash, that was Max driving like Max does and Lewis driving the way Lewis does. a Petulant arrogant child dive bombing to try and overtake because he does not have the skill to make an overtake stick. That being said, the contact that happened was because of the lock up, the lock up happened because Max went for a gap that wasn't there. I don't know if Lewis could have done more to avoid the incident but the stewards seem to think so.

Only thing I can think of is extending Piastri's lead over Hamilton in the constructors, while closing the gap on Sainz.

Maybe this is what they meant by "covering Hamilton", and that cryptic message to Norris that he will need Piastri's help later...

This is what I suspect as well. They are not trying to have a world champion but to have both drivers as high as possible. I don't think Norris will beat Verstappen this year unless Verstappen continues to have meltdowns

Exactly the same scenario, you all are just moving the goal posts and blame Max from both sides of the same scenario.

It’s always someone else’s fault with Max. Lando was divebombing, you can’t overtake like that…

I was angry because the team made me angry…

When the stewards don’t rule in his favour, they need to see the doctor…

I really did not like this race at all. Perez already p1ssed me of on Saturday with his latest attempt to get fired and then Sunday was just a shyte show from start to finish.

How everything unfolded from Mclaren and RB just both being so unprofessional on the day. Oscar's kiss your sister vicotry..

Redbull is starting to crack at an alarming rate. This is where leadership needs to step in and get things under control. Toto is drooling over this, and I reckon yesterday's nonsense will help steer the Verstappens even more into the Merc camp.

If Perez is still there after summer break, then there is no clear leadership in that team.

And then Norris and the Mclaren team. Wow, my boys, you absolutely left a bitter taste in my mouth. That was tough to watch. The better car by a long shot and you screw ol Oscar's first win like that...

Indeed. He didn't do enough to AVOID the collision, is what they said. He could have let max dive bomb past him in flames and then just carry on. He didn't need to stick to his line at all costs. That's what avoiding the collision means. Not that he caused it. Subtle difference there.
 
McLaren made a big mess yesterday. Piastri deserved the win but the way it was done ruined everything.

Stroll acting like the spoiled brat he is once again. Any other team would have replaced him long time ago but daddy is keeping him safe.

Max losing his cool again. I'm sure Max will change teams within the next year or 2.

Perez did perform better but I will still replace him for the rest of the season with Danny Ric ..... yes with Danny Ric.
 
I can't help thinking that if lando had let Oscar past just after the pitstop, when first told to, he had a better than even chance of being able to pass him on track afterwards. He just screwed himself by not allowing himself enough time to make the oveetake.
 
I’m surprised to see so many people give Lando a free pass here. He agreed to give the place back if he pits first. He should have said no to that strategy and taken the risk of being undercut by Lewis and fight to win on merit if he is all for meritocracy.

McLaren were in a tight spot and did the safest thing. This is not the first time drivers invert in F1 so I don’t see why it’s a “hollow” victory for Oscar.

It’s hard to sell F1 as a team sport when the drivers are so far apart (talent wise or in terms of results), seems even harder when they are almost equal.

Lando is the only one to blame for this fiasco. If he immediately gave the place back after the stops there would have been none of these radio messages and hollow victory. Team had a plan and all agreed too it, but he chose to ignore it at make it all about himself.
He has shown the last few races that he is a entitled little drama queen. Constant crying over the radio, scenes after the race, and yet all this from one victory only because of a safety car. What a clown.
