I'd be interested to know what they are going to present - the FIA process is a curious one.
Just the fact that you can’t appeal without new evidence is bizarre… even if the existing evidence is enough to overturn the original decision, that’s not enough. They’ll have to first prove the point of nouvelle evidence before presenting the actual case.

I also don’t recall the request from race control to give the position back.

It goes one step further in that the new evidence also needs to not have been available to the stewards at the time and they themselves hear the protest/appeal. It's all skewed in favour of the original decision rather than ensuring the decision was correct. Imho they should address this by having an independent body randomly selected and formed for each appeal from a pool of stewards, drivers, technical experts who assess the decision and the appeal and vote by simple majority whether to uphold the decision or not.

I'll just add that I look forward to the "future" that when track incidents are referred to stewards they receive an AI-generated, accurate representation with full context of the incident without knowing which drivers/teams are involved. It would remove any possibility of bias. Wishful thinking but that would be cool.

The nuance is that if the evidence WAS available but ignored by the stewards it's not technically "nouvelle" ;) It's additional "f~ckery".
Yes, “even if the existing evidence is enough to overturn the original decision, that’s not enough.”

Why would the existing evidence be enough to overturn the original decision if the original decision was made based on the existing evidence?

If you're just going to dodge actually answering the question I don't get the point of interacting further.
Wonderful! Life can go on. THANK YOU.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella had originally said in the aftermath of the Austin race that “I don't think new and relevant evidence exists”, when questioned on whether his squad would seek to initiate a right of review process.

“Because the only evidence we have used so far to assess our interpretation, which is in disagreement with the stewards, is already available,” Stella continued.

“So, if you open up the right of review, I don't think it will ever be successful because you don't need new evidence, it is just a matter of interpretation.”

So the TLDR; of that video is that Max's driving is legal, but the presenter doesn't like it.

What happened?

You got this Speedster!

Crazy that they run Monaco levels of downforce in Mexico, yet still hit top speeds well in excess of 350kph. Just goes to show what an effect the rarified air has.
