I'm not saying they did not deserve the result. I'm arguing that if you looked years back at the results you'd have a skewed view of the battle for the best of the rest.

I just recognize the scenario where a team that consistently performs at 11th or 12th or 13th the entire season is basically invisible.

You can't hold the previous results of this year against the current team principal:

This is from the Pitpass article posted above:

"We were slightly frustrated not to get both cars through to Q3 but they've more than made up for it now," said team boss Oliver Oakes who has only been with the French team for 16 weeks.

"This team is a great team, it always has been," he added of the former Benetton and Renault outfit which has witnessed great upheaval over the last couple of years. "It obviously had a tough start to the season, the last twelve to eighteen months weren't what the team's all about. But honestly I can say since I arrived it's been so strong, you can see the spirit in the team.

"It's going to be a good winter now," he smiled, "this is what we need to get some momentum behind us."

So give the guy a chance, 16 weeks with the team and he has turned it around - Now we get to see if they can maintain that momentum.

What are you going on about? I'm saying the point system should be expanded so it's more representative of the competition for the best of the rest. You could be the most consistent team finishing 11th and 12th every race the entire year and it means nothing if one driver of any team below you the entire season finishes 1 race in 10th with 1 pt.

It has nothing to do with Alpine or their double podium this weekend which was awesome.

.

I seriously doubt he's going to Ferrari as a #2. Too much money involved. Worst - it's allowing them to race. Best - he gets priority for 2025.
At the risk of alienating and losing Charles, in favour of someone who doesn't have much time left anyway because of their age.

Nope, they're going to come up with something stupid like Scarlet Rules to mimic what McLaren is trying to do...

I don't think Charles will feel alienated. I feel he's a Ferrari lifer at least until he sunsets his career. Whatever the scenario I doubt he was excluded from what Lewis at Ferrari means for him and the team. My gut it was a closed secret for months. Perhaps it's just let them race. Time will tell.

Who gives a ****. People have gone soft in this everybody gets a participation prize world. In the 60's the drivers would have a triple jack on the rocks before the race and race with no seatbelt. What about those parents?
The 1960's were 60 years ago and are long gone, thank God. In those days, 4 or 5 of the drivers that started a racing season wouldn't make it to the end of because they'd die in crashes. It was quite a brutal sport. Spa and the Nurburgring were especially dangerous back then as they were essentially rural roads in the countryside.

Lots of time and money has been invested in safety measures for this sport, which means even after high speed accidents most drivers get out of the car and walk away, and medical attention is always near. This is in large part thanks to Senna's legacy.

I'm pretty sure the drivers also appreciate the efforts to make the sport safer. The audience also appreciates knowing that their favourite driver won't suddenly pass away in front of their eyes.

I saw Senna's fatal crash live on TV. The cameras were fixated on that car for the longest time. I as a 9 year old was bawling my eyes out. That stuck with me for a very long time.

I noticed that. I wonder why he has such a bad car this year
He's leaving at the end of the year, I have no doubt they don't want him to take IP with him so they're limiting damage I guess.

So did I. No emotional damage from my end. F1 was fun to watch back then too and we got to see the helicopter landing and everything before the snowflake censoring era. I would argue its too safe now. A little water on the track and out comes the red flag. Good luck seeing a helicopter landing in this day and age.

Even the TV broadcast has gone soft. In the good old days we can watch the accident and the aftermath where they have to hold up sheets for privacy, now we get to see nothing until it has been deemed okay to show for the snowflakes.
What itch are you wanting to scratch exactly when you say you want a TV camera to broadcast the aftermath of an accident?

Max literally showed why he is the best. That race clearly demonstrated why he is now soon to be 4x WDC vs Norris 3 time race winner lol.

Crofty and the rest of the SkyF1 team literally could not even deny that drive from Max. British media cried more tears than there was rain at Interlagos this weekend  .

Norris was let through due to team orders and Piastri looked faster behind him after letting him through 🤣... Its just "luck" i guess...

Oh i just love it when order is restored....

I think this is more for the family than anything. If an accident turns fatal, I can't imagine that the parents or loved ones of the driver involved would want endless replays of the incident beamed straight into their living rooms...

I paid for uninterrupted full coverage.

Yeah... Like I said, I was 9.

I saw a little girl get hit by a taxi when I was 5-6. Blood in the street, pretty sure I had a banana sterristumpie with me and now that I think about it three or so decades later: the only sound I remember is the screeching tyres and a thump.

Maybe if I was a bit older I may have been traumatised more, but it never affected me I think.

Anyway, since we were sharing I thought I'd add mine.

I saw Bianchi's crash live if I remember correctly. May have been delayed I guess

That was sickening how he just disappeared under a tractor. That will forever stay with me

You wouldn't want to see that sht live. There are also kids commentating on the race.

You need your head examined if you think its ok to broadcast high speed crashes live without knowing if the driver is ok imho

I recall the Senna crash and the commentators speculating if he is moving his head or not.

Yeah no thanks
