Yea he really didn't have a great run for that seat, even his FP sessions were cut short.I'm just saying that Lawson seemed pretty unprepared for that Red Bull seat. The car isn't great, sure, but at the same time he didn't exactly spend all that much time with it or older Red Bulls. All his practice sessions were cut short for one reason or another.
Problem for Lawson is, F1s rules was modified and running in older carsis now limited to (think) a 1000km a year. There are two approaches to this:
1.) Have a junior team. Chop and change rookies the way Red Bull does so that if one guy isn't doing the job you can stick another fellow in pronto
2.) The Mercedes approach: Take the time to get your rookie up to speed in older F1 machinery long before swapping drivers. Antonelli drove 10,000km in older F1 cars before his debut.
I don't know about you, but I think Antonelli looks quite comfortable out there...

What a talent Antonelli is. Started driving F1 cars when he was 8 years old...Problem for Lawson is, F1s rules was modified and running in older carsis now limited to (think) a 1000km a year.
Rumour has it when he was born doctors found a KERS system in the placenta. What a talent Antonelli is. Started driving F1 cars when he was 8 years old...

8. Max Verstappen - 4 championships ; 63 wins ; 113 podiums ; 40 poles
But according to the experts he doesn't know what he is doing
Maybe they can enlighten us on the successes of the other junior driver academies.
“We had him on our books when he was a teenager and we were particularly impressed by his speed over full race distance. However, his partners at the time had a different career path in mind. So it took a while for him to end up at Red Bull Racing. He arrived with a win under his belt and he was in a positive mood. Then he met Max."Wasn't Checo with Ferrari driving academy?

Well, Red Bull has 8 WDCs while Merc has 6, so it seems to be a roughly equal approach...no doubt no doubt
he does look comfy
perhaps redbull is more concerned with the new regs or maybe they expect to be more competitive after the update package
whatever it is - im sure they (redbull) are less "d**s" than what we novices think
You do realize that money is a big part of F1?2 World champions.
1 - Excellent
2 - Overrated and never performed that will besides a brief stint at RB.
3 - Excellent
4 - Very good, given no time and thrown in and out too early (Marko)
5 - Very good, never given a real opportunity despite deserving one (Marko)
6 - Very good, given no time and thrown in and out too early (Marko)
7- Meh
8 - Excellent and given what he needs to perform.
According to History Marko likes musical chairs when it isn't needed and like to watch paint dry when it is desperately needed.
You do realize that money is a big part of F1?
Many of the biggest car manufacturers have left F1 because of the costs.
Drivers are not only chosen because of their abilities, but the money the can bring in.
Yes if you are great and will win championships, that brings in money. If you are a second driver you can bring in money with things like your nationality that brings in sponsors etc.
I would be interested to see who Toto kicks to the curb if Max comes calling later the year.
Russell, his contract is up.I would be interested to see who Toto kicks to the curb if Max comes calling later the year.
