The first bad call from the team was to put hard tires on. Had they left him out, he would have been 1st with 8 lap old softs. Rather defend for a few laps on softs against Oscar and Lando than being a sitting duck on hards with no grip.

I think he probably would still have gotten a podium on those used softs.

No, the stewards admitted that they would have not done anything after that incident. Max could have kept that place. Bad call from the team to tell him to give place back.
Stewards didn't give an answer at the time of the call. Based on the facts and the rules he had to give that place up.

Hypothetically, If Max retained that position and the stewards did not give a penalty that would have been a bad call from the stewards, which we all know happens.,

Bud, end of the day there's a reason why yesterday race control made all and not "any" of the lapped cars to unlap themselves. There's a reason why they waited an additional lap before bringing the safety car in to allow for the lapped cars to reach the back of the pack. And there's a reason why the safety car signals its return to the pit with a lap to go. All rules that were ignored and led to the human error and Masi's firing.

There's nothing that makes any of the above part of a conspiracy theory.

I might also point out you're the only one bringing up Hamilton whenever anyone criticizes Max.
Firstly, I did not bring up Abu Dhabi. The woke crowd did. Talking Abu Dhabi, you bring Hamilton into the conversation. So go talk shyte somewhere else.
Again you only want to complain about the rules being followed when it goes with your argument. I mentioned other instances where rules was not applied and you chose to ignore them.

I'm not so sure leaving him out would've been any different - he'd still have been a sitting duck with any driver with newer or brand new softs. Hulk's pace with brand new softs was a good example. Max simply got mobbed after he lost his backend all over the place.

Why did Max have to concede the corner? Racing does not work like that.
There was enough room. Russel out braked himself and hit Max and forced him off the track. It should have been a penalty against Russell.
#BritishMafia.
The guidelines indicate circumstances on who owns the apex. Here's just one article on it but there are many: https://f1metrics.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/the-rules-of-racing/

Out braked himself? There was no lockup of his tyres and he clearly would have made the exit within track limits.

This is where you let him decide, but the team made the choice for him. You can hear on the radio his surprise at the hard tires being put on. GP should have jumped on, asked Max what he thinks and then made a call.

I would rather put my money on Max's skill to defend on used softs for a lap or two than the utter compromised position he was put in on Hards that nobody used all weekend long.

George Russell went to fast in, his back wheels slid out and he had to correct the steering and then hit Max. It was all his fault. Rosberg said the same thing.
OH and a 2014 article on passing is a bit old, rules change constantly.

Stating that you're always bringing up Hamilton whenever anyone criticizes Hamilton is bringing up Hamilton? 🤡

As for ignoring your examples of "instances where rules was not applied" - Clearly you don't know the difference between procedural consistency vs substantive outcomes. Your examples procedural consistency was correct.

Imho, I doubt they didn't weigh the options available and they rarely get it wrong. Might've gone better too if he didn't lose the traction he did.

I think he would have been better off staying on the softs. He probably would have given up a few positions but still better than 10th.

Disagree. He clearly had control on the inside line. If he came in hot, he would never had made the inside turn besides the fact that there is still plenty of track left next to Max.

Max tried to take the inside line of the apex instead of staying on the outside clearly seen in the driver view

Like I said, there are many articles but for the sake of being relevant, here's one from 2 months ago which was sparked by the Piasti/Verstappen incident

In relation to a car overtaking on the inside of the corner, last year there were four key elements.

These were that, for a driver to have earned the right to room when overtaking on the inside, their car must:

i) Have its front axle AT LEAST ALONGSIDE of the mirror of the other car no later than the apex of the corner.

ii) Be driven in a safe and controlled manner throughout the manoeuvre (entry, apex and exit).

iii) Without (deliberately) forcing the other car off the track at the exit. This includes leaving a fair and acceptable width for the car being overtaken from the apex to the exit of the corner.

iv) Be able to make the corner within the track limits.

I think he would have been better off staying on the softs. He probably would have given up a few positions but still better than 10th.
Then he would have moaned about not bringing him in for new tyres, even if it was hards. When you're used to winning, it's always somebody else's fault when you don't...

Oh of course. I mean he was in a kak spot regardless. But I reckon if they said, "hey, we have fresh hards!" He would have told them where to go and stayed out.

I gave you a video where you could clearly see Russell correcting the steering and then bumping Max. Why put a screenshot?
Even in your screenshot it is clear there is enough room. Russell is already wide, off the racing line, check the car in front. HE went in too fast and could not control it.
