Valtteri Bottas will not participate in Cadillac's test program this season, as Mercedes has decided to retain him as their reserve driver. Bottas is set to join Cadillac as a full-time race driver in 2026 alongside Sergio Perez.

Not surprising since Toto made place for him. Finishing his contractual obligations is admirable.
 
As it is not their actual car anyway I would think that the test is more about integrating the team, getting pit crew working in harmony, letting engineer's see how F1 works etc. so Missing one driver is not a major issue.

Next years preseason tests are the critical ones and they will have the actual cars, both drivers and an experienced pit crew by then.

Italian GP | Quali Gains vs 2024: All teams were quicker this year in Monza Quali (aided by the resurfacing), but the spread was big: Sauber gained almost two seconds, Mercedes less than three tenths! Big gains by Aston, Haas, and Red Bull. McL and Ferrari improved less (were quick last year).

FIA agree with Williams and overturn Carlos Sainz's F1 Dutch GP penalty:

— The FIA has overturned the penalty Carlos Sainz received during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix for his collision with Liam Lawson at Turn 1 in Zandvoort. Sainz initially suffered a 10-second penalty plus two penalty points after the incident. The stewards had blamed Sainz, believing Lawson had “the right to the corner” as his car was ahead at the apex. However, Williams contested this decision, arguing that Lawson drifted left mid-corner.
— The FIA report stated: “The Stewards agree with Williams’ characterisation of the collision as a racing incident.”
— The report further explained: “The Stewards are satisfied that the collision was caused by a momentary loss of control by Car 30 [Lawson]. However, in the Stewards’ assessment, no driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for that collision.”
— It was noted that Sainz contributed to the incident by taking a risk: “Car 55 [Sainz] contributed to the incident by taking the risk to drive close to, and on the outside of, Car 30 when Car 55 had no right to room there.”
— The time penalty served by Sainz during the race remains unchanged: “The time penalty imposed by the Decision was served by Car 55 during the race. The Stewards have no power to remedy that served time penalty by amending the Classifications.”
— The penalty points have been removed: “The Decision having been rescinded, it follows that the 2 penalty points imposed on the Driver of Car 55 are to be removed.”
— Williams expressed gratitude for the review: “We are grateful to the stewards for reviewing Carlos' Zandvoort penalty and are pleased they have now decided he was not at fault and that this was a racing incident.”
— Despite the outcome, Williams acknowledged the impact of the original decision: “While it is frustrating that our race was compromised by the original decision, mistakes are part of motor racing and we will continue to work constructively with the FIA.”

Max Verstappen annihilates opposition during Nordschleife baptism of fire:
— Max Verstappen showcased his dominance during the NLS qualifying at the Nurburgring, finishing 13 seconds ahead of his class competitors. Despite the challenging rainy conditions, he managed to set a remarkable pace in his Porsche Cayman CT4.
— Initially clocking a fastest lap of 10m:39s, Verstappen improved to 10:34, nearly a minute faster than the next best ProAm driver. His final lap time of 10:21.591 was not only the fastest in his class but also the sixth fastest among all Porsche Caymans.
— Verstappen's performance was even more impressive considering his car's 300bhp limitation as a rookie, compared to the full 425bhp allocation of other Porsche Caymans. He still managed to outpace the second fastest guest driver by a staggering 69 seconds.
— The race is set to commence at 12pm CET, 11am BST, where Verstappen will aim to continue his impressive form. His performance in qualifying has set high expectations for the upcoming race, despite the horsepower disadvantage.

"... We know that the 2025 Ferrari was completely replaced by the 2026 model in the windtunnel from early summer, specifically since mid-June, one month earlier than originally planned. Development on the SF-25 would have continued later if Ferrari had been in contention for the championship.

For this reason, there will be no further 2025 performance upgrades developed in the windtunnel. Currently, there are no plans to spend any of the remaining budget cap even on CFD-only developments, and only track-specific components will be introduced.

The performance upgrades that had been scheduled for September have been cancelled. Baku next weekend is a low-downforce circuit where Ferrari has historically performed well, and the team will have to count on making the most of the package it has.

The car for next year, according to our information, is about 70% complete. In Maranello, work on the aerodynamic development of the main components will continue until November. They need to compress the weekend like how MotoGP is compressed.

2xPractice sessions on Friday.
Then another session Saturday morning before qualy, then qualy itself.
The sprint later in the day.
Sunday Moto also has a short warm up before the racing begins so you don’t actually lose testing time

"The team can confirm some gravel hit Fernando's car in the first lap of the race in multiple areas, including his suspension, which compromised it," Aston Martin said. "The team were unaware of the damage sustained. Low-level, continuous loading caused the eventual failure of the part." ..."
