F1, 26 races abolishing Sprint Race and Friday: the idea that can work:

— The F1 calendar is expanding with 24 races and 6 Sprint Races, driven by Liberty Media's entertainment goals. However, this growth brings logistical and economic challenges for teams and drivers, prompting discussions on potential changes.

— Williams team principal James Vowles proposes a radical shift to a two-day race weekend, eliminating Friday activities. This change aims to reduce the time commitment for fans and the logistical burden on teams, while maintaining the same number of races.

— Vowles suggests that reducing the weekend to two days could lower the total number of days spent at circuits, even with an increased number of races. This would mean fewer days away from home for teams and potentially lower costs.

— The proposed format would see free practice reduced to one or two shorter sessions, with qualifications moved to Saturday and races on Sunday. Sprint Races would be eliminated, potentially increasing technical variability and unpredictability on the track.

— While the new format could lead to economic savings for teams, it might reduce the economic benefits for host cities, as Friday currently attracts public, sponsors, and tourism. This trade-off is a key consideration in the proposal.

— The reduction in track time would mean fewer kilometers traveled, leading to less wear and tear on materials and lower operating budgets. This aligns with a less consumerist approach, which could be appealing for the future of Formula 1.

— Despite potential benefits, the proposal faces resistance from purists who value the traditional three-day race weekend. The long-standing identity of F1 is tied to extensive testing and preparation, making change a contentious issue.

This is Formula 1

He deserves it. He took Jaguar and turned it into a Red Bull F1 force. He didnt deserve to have the baby thrown out with the bathwater. We are all human, we make mistakes. Look at Horner's net good and it's titanic. The entire sport is better for him being there.

I don't even like him and I agree with that.
