Enjoyably race and Lando was just great all weekend. I do wonder what is happening with Oscar, it seems strange the fall off since the summer break. Confidence issue or perhaps something more sinister?

I really hope the VSC does not determine the outcome of the Championship. Max would have caught Charles on the last lap.

Everything has to go right for him going forward. Can't even win every race without at least hoping Lando DNF's somewhere.

This stuff needs to stop.

Each driver has their own side of the garage (pit crew, mechanics, race engineer). Do people really believe Oscar's entire crew and his own race engineer are screwing him over?

He is flustered and the pressure is getting to him, and it started with the double crash in Baku (crashed in qualifying and crashed again in the race). Since that Baku weekend he has been way off the boil while Lando has locked in.

Not summer break, since Singapore when he was barged off. I'm guessing there's probably some behind-the-scenes kak going on...

Oscar has cracked under pressure.

It is interesting to note that when Lando had a dip in form mid-season and Oscar took charge of the championship it was a skills issue on Lando's part. Now, the situation has reversed, and all the conspiracy theorists have come out to play.

It's McLaren, there's always behind-the-scenes kak. Whether it's Lando or Oscar struggling. They have no idea how to manage two drivers competing for a championship. Wouldn't be surprised if neither takes it, and Max sneaks past...

That I can agree with.

Same way they lost 2007 and nearly botched it in '99 by allowing Coulthard to race Hakkinen late into the season.

But how do you manage these two? Even Max is looming, it is still their two drivers in with the best chance.

FIA to investigate F1 Mexico GP marshal incident, explains late VSC:
— The FIA is set to investigate an incident involving Liam Lawson and two marshals during the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix. Lawson had a close encounter with the marshals on the racing surface near Turn 3. Speaking to media, Lawson expressed his shock:
“I could have f**king killed them!”
— The FIA clarified that the marshals were initially deployed to clear debris from Turn 1 after several skirmishes. However, the order was rescinded when it was realized that Lawson had pitted, eliminating the safe gap for marshals to operate. The FIA statement explained:
“Following a Turn 1 incident, Race Control was informed that debris was present on the track at the apex of that corner.”
— The statement continued, detailing the sequence of events:
“On lap 3, marshals were alerted and placed on standby to enter the track and recover the debris once all cars had passed Turn 1.”
— The FIA emphasized their respect for the local ASN, OMDAI, and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez marshals, acknowledging their crucial role:
“We would like to underline our respect and appreciation for the local ASN, OMDAI, as well as the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez and their marshals, who are volunteers and play a vital role in the safe and successful running of our sport.”
— On the penultimate lap of the race, a virtual safety car (VSC) was deployed for Carlos Sainz's stranded Williams. The FIA explained the necessity of the VSC due to a fire hazard:
“Sainz spun and stopped in the runoff area on the outside of Turn 14. His car came to a halt in an exposed position.”
— The spokesperson elaborated on the situation:
“The car subsequently began smoking and race control received notifications of fire, making it clear that marshal intervention would be required for recovery.”
— The VSC was lifted once Sainz's car was safely moved, allowing the race to conclude under green-flag conditions.
This is Formula 1

German Grand Prix, Berlin 1959, Hans Hermann crashes his car and flips in mid air, He was uninjured in the accident Source Paul Popper Ltd, Popperfoto

Imho I don't feel this is a racing incident. He was carrying far too much speed.
Your British bias hampers your judgement. He clearly brakes before the Ferrari, but they pushed him onto the curbs where there is no grip.

Maybe I should go quote all the times the last 2 years that I mentioned Hamilton going of track and getting an advantage without getting a penalty, and you all claimed its was first corner incident and rarely gets punished.

How did Pirelli get the tyres so wrong. 20-plus laps on a soft, and no one wants the hard.
