F1 2026

Another heating/chilling loophole ... clever really.

I submit to you the most ridiculous line written in the history of F1 journalism

offering further evidence that manufacturers have been probing grey areas.

These guys need to be more like Ferrari and strictly operate within the engine and fuel flow guidelines.

NEWS: Christian Horner set to buy 24% of the Alpine F1 Team

According to AMuS, the former Red Bull team boss has assembled an investor consortium to purchase a significant stake, reportedly 24%, in the struggling team, with a deal valued at around $763 million.

Horner is said to want major decision-making power, not just a team principal role. Alpine, last in the 2025 constructors’ standings, is entering a new era with Mercedes engines and major 2026 rule changes.

If the deal goes through, Horner’s arrival would likely lead to major management changes, with Flavio Briatore’s future at the team uncertain.

I wouldn't be surprised if Briatore was behind this and it's simply the man he thinks should be in the team principal seat.

— The FIA has announced a rule change for 2026 to avoid issues like those at the Emilia Romagna GP, where qualifying was disrupted by red flags. Speaking to media, the FIA clarified:
“Where an automobile crosses the control line to complete a lap after the red flag has been displayed: (a) that lap time shall not be considered valid; (b) the moment of first display shall be determined by the official timekeeping system or, where this is not available or not synchronised, as jointly confirmed by the race director or clerk of the course and the chief timekeeper; (c) if a lap time is nevertheless recorded after the first display of the red flag, the stewards shall delete that lap time.”
— The FIA confirmed this rule will apply to all sessions, ensuring no ambiguity remains. The decision follows an incident where Oliver Bearman's lap was invalidated due to a red flag, despite onboard footage showing no red-flag lights at the time.
— In addition to the qualifying rule change, the FIA has responded to feedback from the paddock, including George Russell's call for higher protest fees. From 2026, the fee for protests will increase from €2,000 to €20,000. Speaking to media, the FIA explained:
“Any protest that is upheld will see the money returned, but failed attempts will come at a cost, with the sum deducted from the team's cost cap.”
— The appeal process has also been updated under Article A7.5.4, reflecting the FIA's tougher stance on regulations.
