I've spent my fair share of time in boardrooms with the same groups of people day after day, week after week and I've never seen anyone whose been berated in front of a packed room and asked to leave ever do so fully composed whether they deserved it or not.

But that's not what happened. Let me help you out. The incident where he "laughed nervously" was last year, after the last race. Max simply asked him to leave this week, based on the perceived lack of respect last year. I.e. he wasn't "laughing" because he was being berated, he laughed at Max for not winning the WDC.

Sorry a bit of conflation here - his composure was in reference to Thursday.

After being told he would not speak unless I left, I asked if it was because of the question in Abu Dhabi. He said it was. Once more I was taken aback. I might have had a nervous grin again, who knows? So I asked him to confirm if it was because of the question in Abu Dhabi about Spain. “Yeah,” he replied. “You’re really that upset about it?” I asked, to which he replied: “Get out. Yeah. Get out.”

I'm starting to tire of F1... I found it pretty dull today. I must be getting old.

Where are the days when races took place at Prince George Circuit in East London in the 60s... good times those.

The software running these cars is proving complicated and teams are getting it wrong. Mclaren have the same engine as Mercedes, but not the software, have to figure it out themselves and look at the impact that has had first 2 races.

Start of ground effect era looked bad too. Merc's, Toto and co were making lots of noise about so called safety and all sorts of things to try make up for fact they could not run cars as low or push as hard as Redbull could.

New era, same drama.

If even one team can make it work, it should work. No one had any sympathy for Mercedes when they were bouncing all over the track, the prevailing opinion was that they should fix themselves. Or how did Horny spice say it, fix you f'ing car.

So yeah, they must just fix their cars.

David Croft is just grating on me... seems Martin Brundle is doing less commentary, who is at least tolerable.
 
So... what is the one main focus/element of a F1 car these days and the pinnacle they're trying to reach?

The issue is it's creating speed differentials on the track that are dangerous. In qualifying these differentials have always been managed by staying off the racing line, in the race that isn't always possible...

These are the supposed best drivers in the world, if they know there's a speed difference they should account for it. F1 has always been a dangerous sport, they knew that coming in.

That doesn't mean we want anyone getting hurt. In the old days there were technical limitations to safety measures, which created more danger. These days there's no excuse, and definitely no excuse to artificially create danger through regulations.

If that's the case then there's no need for safety cars when there's a track hazard or when someone is breaking down, because these are supposedly the best drivers in the world and they should be able to avoid it...

True, but if you want to any and all elements of danger is still worth it? This sport will always have danger, that's the nature of the beast. Your last paragraph are just unnecessary dramatics. The drivers are aware of the dangers, Bearman should have known that using his battery power coming up to a slower driver would be dangerous, these guys are the best of the best. Those that can't cope should go drive nascar or something.

Or required. There's no reason a slower car needs to give way for a faster car. It's racing, unless, of course, they're being lapped.

What a joke.
Firstly Most cars got it right in 2022. It was mostly Merc and Ferrari struggling with heavy porpoising. So there was no big flaw in the regulations.
2026 regulations, nobody got it right, not even Merc. They are only faster when they on their own in Qualifying or in front at the race. And that "faster" is arguably because of the engine cheat that soon will me stopped. They cannot pass and stay ahead. They get their mushroom, pass and get passed back when the other driver uses his mushroom.
These regulations are flawed, their is little driver skill involved. People that know racing complained for long about the artificial passing of DRS. They have now took artificial passing to the next level. At least with DRS you still had to out brake your opponent mostly at the end of the straight.
The 2026 regulations have even created and extremely dangerous situation with one getting his mushroom and the car in front losing speed.
I cannot see anyway how they can save these regulations. They will have to go back to bigger engines where you get most of your power from your engine and not a battery.

And lastly. Merc and Toto is a cancer to F1.
2022 regulations they got the rules changed so everyone cars got lifted higher.
2026 regulations they already had regulations changed to there advantage that we now have a pre start warm up so they are less effected with their bigger turbo.
