A newly-discovered species of wasp has been named after Oscar Piastri - 'Gwesped piastrii'

Found in Burmese amber in northern Myanmar, the researchers chose to honour Oscar for his achievements in Formula 1 as the amber reminded them of McLaren papaya

Special report: Allegations of sexism, racism and expenses fiddling are flying in US courts, drawing in leading figures in motor racing and some famous names in music. But the precise role of Peter de Putron, a Jersey-based billionaire, is one of the most intriguing subjects

I wouldn’t laugh at this idea, BYD have got deep pockets, deep enough to easily bribe an autocratic Emirati Arab with delusions of power…
Not so deep any more.

They've been running on massive Chinese government subsidies which are ending...

They've been running on massive Chinese government subsidies which are ending...

They still seem to have assets in excess of $100bn, it won’t take more than a handful of millions to bribe the guy…

Monaco GP Safety Concerns Drive FIA Decisions:

— The FIA is implementing changes to F1 car performance for the Monaco Grand Prix, focusing on the unique track layout that emphasizes frequent braking and short straights. This setup allows for better energy harvesting but requires careful management of electric power due to limited run-off areas.
— To enhance safety, the FIA has decided against using the aerodynamic "Straight Mode" at Monaco. Instead, cars will have fixed wing configurations, eliminating drag-reduction systems. This decision aims to maintain control and safety on the narrow, challenging circuit.
— The FIA has adjusted the usage profile for electric power, starting the linear decrease at 200 km/h and exhausting it by 300 km/h. This change is crucial for safety, as it prevents excessive speeds in areas with limited run-off, reducing the risk of accidents.
— Overtake Mode remains active, allowing a slower power decrease from 350 kW at 200 kph to 150 kW at 300 kph, with power dropping to zero at 310 kph. This adjustment ensures that overtaking can still occur safely, despite the track's notorious difficulty for passing.
— The standard power usage profile, which would have allowed a linear drop only after 340 kph, posed safety risks, especially in the braking zone at the Nouvelle chicane. The new profile mitigates these risks by ensuring power reduction occurs earlier, enhancing driver safety.
