Honda starting the race in France (at least for Vandoorne) :p

Honda is bringing an upgraded Formula 1 engine to the Belgian Grand Prix, with McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne expected to get a 35-place grid penalty because of the changes.

The Japanese manufacturer has been continuing to work on improving its 'spec 3' power unit, which was originally tested as far back as the Azerbaijan GP.

But with the F1 season entering a power track double at Spa and Monza, Honda is using this opportunity to bring new parts it has developed for local driver Vandoorne.

A Honda spokeswoman said: "Yes, we are bringing some updates here. [Yusuke] Hasegawa san will be available in Friday's conference to ask about the details of the updates."

This could spice things up - "While Friday is expected to be overcast, rain is expected on Saturday and Sunday, with heavy rain anticipated throughout the race"

F2 Quali is giving a good glimpse into what to expect this weekend.
It is raining at one end of the track and dry on the other.
Tire management and aquaplaning are the watch words, but they are all still pushing to improve the times.
