Ferrari have never played by "the spirit of the rules" and often get the rules changed in their favor.
The question did make me laugh though, which was nice on my first day back at work

Agreed on the Open IP - That would make F1 much more road relevant but could also make manufacturers reluctant to partake.

Just give them 2 years on the release - they can still innovate.

Intrigue over Formula 1 suspension systems pioneered by Mercedes is nothing new, but the latest row over what is allowed can be traced back to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

According to sources, a radio conversation between Daniel Ricciardo and his Red Bull pitwall about car set-up and the impact of the suspension on aerodynamic performance left some teams suspicious that there was more to these devices than originally thought.

..."A spring classically was linear, [but now] we are playing with far greater and more complex ranges of non-linear compliance," said Lowe.

"That's allowing us to play games with getting the aero platform exactly where we want.

"It's more difficult to do than it was with FRIC, but it's the same thing really."

FRIC was banned before Hungary last year.

I think an even bigger setback for Red Bull, aero is what kept them in the game even with an uncompetitive engine.

Or widen it some more, the Merc teams did well because of the monster the engine was, it might hurt Merc a little but the aero and suspension was what kept RB competitive, if they don't have a huge jump in engine performance this could really hurt them.

I reckon it'll hurt the teams playing catch up more than the teams with resources like Merc. They'll find another loophole.

remember Brawn is not there, and imo he was the root cause for steering Merc to a winning trajectory

I still say Brawn was in one way or another the initiator of the benefits they are now reaping.

Isn't it odd that BAR Honda is now Merc, Minardi now Torro Rosso, Jordan now Force India.

Intriguing how the teams evolve.
