Facebook Feb problems..

Today by FAR is the worst day.... Techies aren't even aware of this problem - "Everything is 100% on this side". Well on my side it isn't you moron!

What's next from here? hellopeter won't get us no where!

Ok, all the techs are in a meeting after I referred them here. The guy I spoke to wanted everyone here's numbers so he could contact them regarding this. I'm waiting for him to call me back at the moment (he seems to be the only tech that cares about getting this resolved). If you guys want, pvt me your cell numbers and I'll pass it on.

I've actually had a response to my Hellopeter post. They said it was an issue with their upstream provider and it has been resolved.

Has it?

Well either everyone has no issues today or no one can connect to this forum to complain. I'm still experiencing random timeouts.

Think everyone is just tired of the continued iBurst saga.

Still experiencing SLOW browsing speeds, timeouts above normal, downloads ok, VoIP the worst it’s been - during office hours; after hours great, no issues....

I used Vodacoms 3.6 tonight off a friend's laptop... - i must say i have never enjoyed web browsing that like that in my life before! iBurst honestly need to iron out their sh i t that's been going on in this past week. This service is exactly what Land Locked said above..... UNUSABLE............

Maybe you all need to move to Cape Town. I've never had any of the problems mentioned in this thread. This leads me to believe that the problem is specific to your hub or aerial in your area. You should tell that to iburst and get them to fix it.
I'm in the claremont area and often wonder how people have so many problems with iBurst and i seem to avoid them all.
Also, compared to the complaints on the other ISP threads on mybroadband, its not an iBurst problem but a 'living in south africa' problem.
iBurst seems to be the best all round solution (for me). Adsl is too expensive. 3G and others are also too expensive and have bandwidth limits. Sentech are both too expensive and have bandwidth limits. iBurst is cheaper and is one of the last remaining options that doesn't cut you off entirely when you get capped.

I spoke to someone yesterday who is on a different tower (neighbouring tower) and he has had no issues either.

We have tried to tell iBurst about our issues and in between excuses of servers needing to be rebooted or a problem with their upstream provider or my personal favourite, there are no problems on the system, I think a lot of us have just given up.
It's hard to deal with a helpdesk that tells you every time you call to check your mtu or to check settings which was working perfectly fine before.

Okay, some guy by the name of Charlton called me today and he told me 'they changed their IP range' and everything is back on track. Whatever they did, the past hour has been decent...

Let's hope it stays like this now.....

I have given up. Moved over to ADSL at work and all the problems disappeared. Sadly I still have to use Iburst at home.

It's still been pretty crappy over here. I think they are over subscribed. Why else would their service work better after hours?

Okay just logged in now, and my service is back to 'normal'!!!!!!!! Normal being terrible by the way :P

Usually it's better after hours but last night was just a disaster.

Had a phonecall today from one of the senior network guys after sending him a snotty email...

Situation is as follows:
New transparent cache was implemented recently. The server started to take strain when a change happened on the routing side that it was not optomised for.

They have identified the problem and the fix is in the job queue to be implemented in the next maintenance window.

They are also aware that their DNS system is taking strain and are busy with an upgrade on that system that is expected to take a few weeks.

I also got the same problem at home and at work (2 different towers and 2 different modems and accounts) and today at the office we battle to download our emails with Iburst, the email client times out and also downloads the emails very very slow.
