About a billion people.
And on mobile, people spend about 1/5 of their total usage time on facebook

I think that people that spend 20% of their usage time on FB should be sterilised.

Apple will ignore it.
Their integration with FB is already quite deep.
They can improve it but there is no way on earth that Apple would allow someone else to put a skin on their mobile o/s

This launcher basically monetizes Android in a way that Google has been unable to do so far, and unfortunately for Google, they can't prevent it.
Apple, however can prevent it, and will most certainly continue to prevent it

Anyway I like the idea and how facebook has implemented it. The chatheads feature, while a poor name I think, is a very clever way to deal with messaging. They have also set the right price point I believe. Having a phone for $99 makes it extremely accessible to a large audience. I want to see how they are going to drive revenue through this though.

They get revenue from the ads still being pushed to the devices. And you can bet it will chew through the megabytes like cake.

+1 Twitter finally just got an update with swipe gestures. It irks the hell out of me that it took so long for the obvious. Still waiting on Zuck's boys to catch a wake up. And for the love of pop music: Will they ever get posts to run in a chronological timeline!? :wtf:
Had to smile with the Live coverage on twitter last night: Zuck mentioned that Home would get an update every month. JR Raphael's response to that had me in stitches:

Like you, I'm in RSA.
I only used it as an eg. of what they're planning - my understanding is, is that they want to get this FB Home app PRE-loaded onto as many phones as they can, around the world (not only the US), which would in my view, be disastrous. Needing to either shut it down all the time, or having to root & delete the app.
In the future, I want to be able to purchase either a phone, phablet or tablet running JB or better, and not have to root because of intrusive apps like FB, Twitter & this new FB Home one. It seems as though the only choices left will be Google Nexus or WP8 (as long as they don't get 'into bed' with FB).
