Facebook Home for Google Android

If this glorified Widget is to become a forced upgrade - I'll finally have a good enough reason not to be on Facebook anymore.

I'm just busy deciding whether to uninstall Facebook on my S3 or use one of the poor third party Facebook clients on the Play Store. I'm sick of the huge permanent system resource Facebook imposes on my phone despite me having no settings that permit notifications, contact syncing or any other background processes. And then Facebook announces they have a new app to take over your entire phone. No thanks Zuck. I'd rather drink a cyanide smoothie.

I would assume the regular Facebook app will be unaffected by this new Facebook launcher. Not everyone wants Facebook to take over their phone, and not all devices are capable of running it.

Wow with a phone that looks like that they better get the lawyers ready! iphone is gonna pounce!!

Facebook aren't making a phone, so I don't think Apple will have much of a leg to stand on.

FB Home for iPhone

Wonder if this will give Android an advantage over iPhone / WP8 / BB10.
Can't wait for "FB Home for iPhone" to be launched :D
Perhaps iOS7 will include FB Home.

you should be able to like "shutdown the app" kind of thing.

I looked at video and the UI looks decent and im not saying this is good = also fb hater, but it has potential and we'll first have to see how it works and tests when releases :) amped to try it and deny it

Now would be really interesting to see how Apple react to this, if Jobs was around he would of just ignored it. Why doesn't facebook take on Whatsapp and Viber?

they are more than likely looking in to it

Oh yay so they have made a facebook launcher for android, not quite sure why anyone would want that.

This is so true, do people honestly trust this app to read all your phone info :/

I honestly wouldn'y want to see what people have got to say everytime I switch on, already loggin in everyday and having to see "omg ITS FRIDay" or "its nearly the WEEKEnd" gets a bit annoying, I have a calender to tell me each day of the week, I don't care if today is friday, but thanks for letting me know.

This is a nice idea for those avant Facebook fans yes. I'm glad that they made it an app and not part of the UI; it at least gives people a choice.

A phone from HTC that comes pre-loaded with Home will be available starting April 12, with AT&T as the carrier. The HTC First will sell for $99.99 with a two-year data plan from AT&T.

... which is why I'll never buy another HTC, ever again.
They love putting on these pre-loaded social media apps that open up, even if you've not touched their icons.

And, if you say to me I should root the Desire S & load a custom rom, I'd do so if it wasn't such a mission now, having downloaded that RUU ICS a few months ago. I posted yesterday about it on another thread.

Who still uses Facbook... it's soooo 2009.

Twitter is WAYYYYY better. Couldn't be bothered with this.
