Facebook fatigue is setting in. Time has wearied users of Facebook and while total usage is growing thanks to emerging countries, established markets such as the US, UK and Canada have seen large declines in terms of active participation such as status updates, sharing content, messaging and installing applications.

That's the recent finding by GlobalWebIndex, the world's most detailed global insight study into consumer behaviour online.

Active behaviour on Facebook in the US such as messaging friends and joining groups in the past month are down 15 percent and 10 percent respectively.

I've been off FB for two years and even G+ isn't getting traction for me. I spend more time here in fact.

I know of a lot of kids, who have too many( parents and family) on their FB and are now using other social networks to be themselves lol !! (my son does not FB, he does do Steam and private IRC)

I have seen older FB members increasing, FB is a good and easy to use service for older family members who live far from each other and who want to share daily news and photos.

I am on a Stellenbosch circuit on FB, it connects me to a social life.

Facebook irritates me, because I prefer making long updates, and they do not facilitate long updates. I do not use it all that much, but do check it daily for birthdays and local friends news.

I just use fb for events and photos. I tend to sms and email more to talk to my friends more than facebook them. I definitely use it less these days.

The biggest problem with G+ is that everyone is on facebook. Seriously, G+ should've been opened to everybody from the beginning.

Very old article.

No offence to the OP, but this article is old. If you do a search on the forum you will see it was posted sometime last year as well.

G+ sucks. It's incredibly boring. At least on Facebook there's stuff going on now and then.

Since I started using Whatsapp, I've hardly been on Facebook. It's only good for sharing pics now. (and spying on exs, or letting them spy on you and your new gf)

Facebook is more useful for the Boomer generations and beyond so they can reconnect easily with people from their pasts and I think demographics are beginning to show this. For the youth instant communication like BBM is more important.

I still use it occasionally to see how the family in the States and friends in Aus are doing.

It's a tool. Use it when you need it. There's no need to be on there 24/7.

Mom showed me cousins that I didn't even know existed :D

FB is dying out on my side as well... I check it because some people on my class created a group to keep all the peeps informed (which is brilliant! I never know whats going on :D).

Other than that, there's seldom a need for it. Not a day goes by when I think "oh shyte! I better go on facebook!"

Besides, I use IM and sms/calling to keep in touch with people, and even just plain old email. Seeing as Android handles email so well, that's becoming my prefered way to organize things and share stuff :)

I'm still using and enjoying Facebook. Google Plus is pretty much dead in the water. Why don't they open up Google plus to everyone now?

I would never have my mom and dad on facebook, I do have my brothers but we cool.

Would agree. I am not on FB and that would be the only reason I would use it. I am just at tail of 'boomers'

Ya i also like facebook, not big into it but it is pretty decent.

Google plus i think wanted to create some hype and seem exclusive but that is failing so as you say just open it up or close it down.
