MY COMMENT: I was/am under the impression that mobile location is not that easy to trace. However, I acknowledge the fact that this is what I was told in 2009 when I got my 1st BB. Then someone else said that they could trace it by batch number. In my mind, I'm thinking that batches of phones are released to different countries. Knowing how things work in Africa, I'm sure a lot of the phones meant for the SA market, ends up in Timbuktu or Uganda. Also, a lot of cell phones are stolen and some people, thinking that could never happen to them, are always logged into their FB account. Suddenly they wake-up and realise the thief can now access his or her FB page.

FB lost its charm for me ages ago. Whatever Mr. Goldstruck has to say, means nothing to me. However, I would hope that he has enough common sense not to try and fool the entire population with this statement

because Facebook’s mobile sign-up doesn’t require users to specify a location for them to join.
