The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been awarded a 3-star rating by Global NCAP. The hatchback scored 18.04/34 points for adult occupant protection and 18.57/49 points for child occupant protection. The test car was equipped with 6 airbags.
In the frontal impact test, the Celerio offered adequate protection to the driver’s head and good protection for the passenger’s head. Neck protection was good, while chest protection was weak and adequate for the driver and passenger, respectively.
The occupants’ knees showed marginal protection, while their tibias showed adequate protection. The bodyshell was rated as unstable.
In the side impact test, protection for the head and chest was rated as marginal. The abdomen showed adequate protection, and the pelvis showed good protection.
In the side pole impact test, head and pelvis protection was good, and the chest and abdomen showed marginal protection.
The child seats for the 3-year-old and 18-month-old were not able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact test. Chest protection was also rated as poor. The CRS could not contain the head during the side impact test.
Global NCAP also evaluated the Celerio equipped with 2 airbags. It was awarded a 2-star rating.
