Just a heads up samsung S4 fakes are around .they look pretty close to the originals and if you dont look closely you wont know the difference .
The one i have got is not working so i cant test it , but have watched some YouTube and some of the guys actually like them, the guy i got it from wants R3500 thats not going to happen , i will see him tomorrow and post what happens .
Some youTube on the subject http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKxbBBtvAdY

Some pictures of the phone .20131230_095935.jpg20131230_100030.jpg20131230_100105.jpg20131230_102039.jpg20131230_100700.jpg

Also know someone who bought one through Gumtree. I had someone wanting to sell his for R4k or swap with another phone (in my case a Sony Xperia Z). The guy meets people in Midrand and drives a purple VW Polo (2002 shape)

Ways of telling its a fake:
Install AVG antivirus - detects that the phone is not using original firmware and shows a message when opening app
Colour of LED flash is yellow instead of white
Lag when clicking home button to turn on screen
When opening the multitasking tray, the three options at the bottom aren't there
Home screens can't be removed
No NFC
Camera is 8MP - though on camera app, there is an option for 13MP
Install geekbench 3 and check RAM and clock speeds

The one my friend bought was a really amazing clone. It fooled him, my brother and many of my friends... They come in both black and white variations though the white one is more popular - friend got the black one

Also look out for the 16gb models... Those seem to be what they are cloning. On the box, if the imei sticker has been peeled off, then its most probably a fake

:wtf: Becoming so complicated to do something simple.

Pretty sure there is a simpler way? When guys came into cellucity, i could tell within a few seconds that the phone was not legit. Same story, they pay around R3.5k for the phone. Settings --> More --> Model number should say GT-I9500 or something there of. From what i remember the version displays something completely different.

And icasa will probably sell stickers for the right price. Remember this is corruption capital and anything is possible.

Easiest way is looking at the colour of the flash. The one in the pics are too yellow. Model number in settings is the same. All that looks good, the managed to fake the whole software very well ;)

Just install a benchmark software like antutu, most fakes cant fake CPU models .

I live in China now and brought a lot of fakes online (without knowing of course), like a fake HTC one X, fake S3, fake eveything...now if it comes preloaded with the benchmark software it outputs fake results. So download one from the market for testing, never use the preloaded softwares.

That explains it. The person that I knew already had a benchmark app on there and it was showing 28000.

Shouldn't you just have to remove the battery and look for a ICASA sticker? Wouldn't that be enough? Maybe after that checking that the IMEI numbers match?

just pay for the fake phone with fake dollars! problem solved, now they just need to send me to fake jail. :D
