I'm not sure where to post this exactly, but think this is the best place to. I find it very crappy and deceitful from the MTN store....
I got an email on the 7th of Aug from Lucas at the MTN Store (The Cosmos store opposite the Telkom store) in The Glen Shopping Center.

Your MTN contract is due for upgrading. An amount of R1143 will be credited to your MTN account when you upgrade your MTN contract at the MTN store in The Glen Mall.
Please visit the MTN store in The Glen Mall opposite CNA and TELKOM for assistance.

At first I thought it was spam, most emails of these types are and ignored it. But since it was my upgrade time, I phoned the store landline nr and asked to speak to him. It was confirmed that the deal was real. I asked whether it would work as in, for the first two or three months won’t be billed and as the amount I owed would be debited from the R1143. They said yes, it will work like that.
During the start of Oct I phoned and was told that I still had the credit so I went and upgraded with a lady called Mpho.
However end of Oct my account was debited for my monthly amount.
I phoned the store repeatedly and no one can help me and Mpho is always busy and doesn’t return my calls. Also, Lucas doesn't work there anymore, moved on to another MTN store.
I emailed MTN on their complaint email on the 5th of Nov and was told that someone would get back to me in 5 days, no one did.
I phoned the MTN call centre on the 18th and the agent phoned store and told me MPho would phone me back. She still hasn’t and I doubt she will.
I have just logged another call but doubt I will get anywhere. I’ve got ref nr for all call logged.
Thing is, I wanted to move away from MTN, their coverage in my area isn’t bright. Guess I should have moved on.
