Far Cry 2 is out

I'm sort of hoping story-wise it's better than the original. Then again, the other half likes to shoot stuff, so... pff... Guess what I want doesn't matter :p

excuse the grammar, typing on my mobile.
Well i dont c why there wont be any local server.Everything else about the game is really local,eg.Violence.Crazy locals,guns.Disease.Carjacking.Bumpy roads, veld fires, smugling, lawlessness etc..

Its just, SGS would only give a server for it if theres a lot fans. Like with COD4 they dedicated like over 10 servers but other less popular games dont get anything...

I don't see a FC2 server working out, the Crysis one didn't.

COD4 is popular because its a fast flowing shooter, FC2 won't be... What is the point exploring HUGE maps, when you generally just wanna shoot the shyte outta other people...

I played on the Crysis server and it had about 15 people, took me almost 15 minutes to find someone and I couldnt' even kill them because they were in a vehicle traveling FAST in a direction.

COD4, I can't go 1 minute without either killing someone or dying myself.

FC2 might be a good game, but the maps are open ended (thus the example of Crysis)
Do you really want to run around for say, ±5 minutes before you can kill someone (or even just shoot at them?)

In that 5 minutes, you've wasted what...5mb of bandwidth.

REALLY looking forward to this game..... Out of the reviews I read, the IGN one struck a chord with me.... Just seems wierd that there is absolutely NO tie in to the first one?? But they still say its an excellent game on its own merit.

Honestly I couldnt care less what this game scored. I preordered as soon as that option was available. But is it just me, or does a high score make you feel like your decision was warranted :D

I have the console version, but im sure its not going to even compete with the PC version, this one should be a $$$ printer for sure.

The PC version has better- clearer graphics :)
The storyline is weak.

My thoughts exactly. Fc2 was never intended on being extremely good on multiplayer it seems.

Weird, when I played on the RSA Crysis there was non stop action, was actually a lot of bloody fun, just a shame my emergency int cap ran out so I can't play until next month...

Then again the dude who runs the server knows what his doing unlike SAIX who takes forever to set up a non COD4 server and leaves it on Auto Pilot and never updates it and then goes into silent mode.

Propably not a bad game but...
They shouldn’t have named the game “FARCRY2”.
“Boiling Point 2” would have been more appropriate.
It does not resemble much of the old FarCry to me.

Tried the game today on PC. :)

In my opinion, it's about a 8/10

I expected a bit more, but the game play it quite fun.

The engine is very good, I manage to run it perfectly with all settings on "Very High" and 4x anti-aliasing with a Radeon X1800 XT at a res of 1280x720. (1680x1050 gives me a few jitters of lag) :p

I haven't played it that much yet, only about 20mins or so, it looks promising though. ;)

I think a lot of people are immediately going to put this game up against Crysis hoping it will be next bigger better game, but I don't think we can compare it to Crysis....Never the less the game looks awesome and will certainly be getting my money. I am also keen to wait for the collector’s edition.

how can they just come out of making crysis, as well as the expansion, and then make far cry 2 in such a short period. i thought these games takes years to make.

As far as I know it's not the same people that made Crysis, I know for a fact its not the same engine.

Same company, different office, different engine and has been in development for roughly the same time as Crysis.

As for comparing it to Crysis, you can't. Yes, it's the same developer, but they aim would be to make the gameply etc different to that of Crysis, or it might be seen as 'more of the sameness'.

Anyway, Farcry doesn't offer a sexy nano-suit...

Just as a side note, this game only weighs in at 3.15 gigs once installed. Not very big at all :)

hhmmm...interesting ...at least this means the Xbox DVD drive still has enough space then for future "upgraded" graphics on open terrain sandbox fps games...
