Far Cry 2 is out

I got my copy of Far Cry from Take2 today..... Ordered the normal version.
It seems I've received 2 dvd packages for the game though.... I admit that I didnt pay too much attention to what they were (flying back to work :D) but is that normal?

You did read the box and numerous reviews where it stated First Person Shooter ?

I heard that the story and the way that the story is told is pretty weak to non-existent. With such a big budget game they should have spent some money and hire writers to come up with a better story line and use it to link the missions together. The game tries to create a sense of immersion, I would think that giving the player a reason for why they are there and why they are doing certain things and create a sense of being part of something bigger would be a key part of the immersion. I still plan to get the game though.
 
The story is simple: take down the Jackal, who is the mains weapons supplier for both factions in the game. Sure it's weak, but how many FPS had riveting storylines? HL and um....um.. Doom..er..no,wait,that story sucked. I'm loving FC2 - at least it tries to innovate a bit in a genre that almost always plays out EXACTLY the same.
 
Started it last night as well..... Must say, the intro was long, but interesting.... I like the fact you can set there to be no crosshair....

Enoying it so far!! Ran into a lack of ammo problem in my first fight, but there are always other means of dispatching your foes ;)

Surprisingly, even though I have the Flamethrower, I haven't started a fire......... wierd........
 
Fortuntately no.... installed, downloaded a little file, entered my S/N, verified and I was in.....

If it helps, here's my setup....

4gb DDR2 800
Amd X2 5400 Black Edition
XFX 8800 GTX EE (Running 180.43 drivers..... the Beta ones nVidia made for this game)
Vista Home Prem x64 with SP1

specs wise, I reckon I'm ok (E8400, 2gb RAM, 8800gt Extreme, XP) ...... I just seriously hate too many bugs, workarounds, etc.
 
Fully understandable..... I suppose it really comes down to an individuals experience though.

Haven't had one incident (AI or otherwise) to complain about.
 
One thing I'm glad about is that most of the feedback so far is good ....... I just dunno what the other game is yet I'll be getting with FC2.
 
ugh, neh ..... not a RTS fan at all ...... shooters and rpg's mainly. Think I might get Sacred2.
 
Another good choice.... I've been having fun playing that.
I'll take it based on whats on this forum, you aren't looking at Fallout 3 just yet??
 
only on Xbox at a later stage ...... waaay too much badness around Fallout3 (hardcore issues).
