Can't agree, death is the ultimate sanctification.
I kind of like the crane, boiling water in a vat idea. But they have to live afterwards.

I have seen quite a bit of negative review claiming that the movie is merely a long advert ....... ????
Good as its intentions might be, Treurgrond comes across as one long advertisement – not only for the about 50 products and Afrikaner institutions placed in scenes that scream at the audience, but for ideologies and anger.

I haven't seen anything related to an advert thought.
unless you looked at it with a preconceived image I guess. Watch it for what it is and then judge it. It's on Showmax - 30 day free trail. Then you can tell us yourself I'll admit there is some political undertones but if you watch the movie till the end you feel different about that.

It's really not that Graphic, probably the last 10 minutes of the movie if that much. Seriously a great story. I recall seeing it on Showmax. Just can't access it from work now will check again tonight.
The thing that still gives me goose bumps even today still: "Oupa, daar is iemand in die huis" GEESUS, goose bumps again /shiver. God I don't want to ever awake by those words.

I watched the preview some time back, the "Pappa daar is iemand in die huis" part was what put me off watching the actual movie, oh that and I did try watching it then the funny scene at the beginning with him, a farm worker and the farmworkers son just made me think, "naa"

Yeah, that "Pappa..." bit in the trailer gave me the chills. Haven't seen the movie yet, but can kind of figure out what happens next.
Read loads of reports where investigators figured out that the attackers had made the father watch them murder/torture the kids and rape/torture the mother before they killed him. It's not enough that they kill innocent people - the fact that they feel the need to put them through hell like that before they snuff them out is an entirely different level of ****ed up. It's extermination with some sort of perverse power rush.

Defence nitpicks at testimony of farmer's widow
Pretoria - The defence counsel of murder accused Schalk Myburgh and his son Schalk Myburgh jnr took her time on Monday morning cross-examining and nitpicking at the evidence of Anna Mavula, the widow of farmer Muraga Mavula.
Muraga, 64, was allegedly beaten and driven over by Myburgh, 56, and Myburgh jnr, 30, on the evening of December 28, 2015. The two men are standing trial in the High Court in Pretoria for Muraga's murder.
During the cross-examination of the widow, who was the first witness to be called on Friday afternoon, the defence's Advocate Adele Janse van Vuuren questioned her about discrepancies between the statement she gave to police and her evidence-in-chief in court.
In the police statement, she said that her neighbour Carl Laubscher arrived on the scene with one white man, but in court she said both the accused were with Laubscher when he arrived in a bakkie and asked her what was wrong.
"I saw my husband wasn't alive and I started to scream. Carl came to ask me what happened; I showed him my late husband's body," said Mavula.
"I think I made a mistake by not mentioning the third person as Carl told me 'the two who murdered your husband were the Myburghs'."
'Whites killing my father'
She added that she was not in a good psychological space when she gave the police the statement.
The defence also asked Mavula if she would comment on the account of a defence witness that she had answered the phone and not her daughter and that they spoke about an assault, not a killing.
She said the witness's testimony would be a lie and maintained that her daughter answered the call, rushed to her and said: "They say the whites are busy killing my father."
The defence also engaged in a repetitive line of questioning about the speed at which Mavula drove to the scene, how she turned into the road where her husband's body lay and on what side of the road she drove after turning into the road.
Mavula, who was visibly agitated, answered and at one stage told the defence: "Don't put words in my mouth."
Advocate Jennifer Cronje, for the State, also interjected about the repetitiveness of the questions.
Emotions running high
The presiding Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela had to call the court to order after the State, the defence team and Mavula all became highly agitated at the line of questioning and responses.
Maumela asked all involved to keep the decorum of the court and not to let their emotions get in the way of proceedings.
He told Mavula that she had managed to keep her cool until now, and urged her to maintain it.
The State contends that the Myburghs murdered the farmer, who was out that evening with two of his sons looking for a lost goat.
The Myburghs have alleged that they confronted him over the ownership of two animal carcasses that he had in his possession.
A fight then allegedly broke out. The accused claimed they acted in self-defence.
The trial is expected to continue on Tuesday.

Pretoria - The white man told another man who worked at the farm to fetch something, and he came back with “those things police tie criminals with when they arrest them”. These were the words of the 9-year-old girl from Zithobeni, near Bronkhorstspruit. She was allegedly assaulted and tied to a tree on a farm, she said in her statement to police.
The girl accused Schierpoort farm owner Johannes Potgieter and his employee Hendrick Dumas of assaulting her last Saturday morning. The two appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a bail application, while members of the public demonstrating outside. The case will continue tomorrow. The girl suffered scratches on her left wrist, a cut on her index finger, scratches on both her knees and a scratch on her chin. Her mother reported that she was shaky and scared.
On the day, it was reported that three boys between the ages of 12 and 14 had decided to take their three dogs for a walk in Zithobeni. They came across the young girl and walked with her until the dogs went crazy over birds they saw and chased after them.
The group jumped over a fence to look for the dogs, only to be greeted with gunshots. The three boys ran and left the girl behind.
“While we were looking for our dogs, we saw white males. We then decided to hide in the trees, but the white males approached us. I ran; that’s when I fell and I saw one of the man carrying a big gun. He reached out and grabbed my arm,” the girl said in her statement. “And then the man slapped me with an open hand I fell to the ground. He then ordered me to jump the fence to go to the tree near the house. He then slapped me again with an open hand,” she added.
The prosecution asked why the girl was taken to the tree instead of home, but the accused said they wanted to question why she and the boys were there. The suspects claimed they told them they were hunting for springboks on the game farm. They told the court they did not assault the minor.

This isn't a farm attack. I don't believe any farmer will just shoot at people for no reason, probably warning shots at worse. If they weren't guiltily they shouldn't have ran away. If you are caught on other people's property for some legitimate reason, like looking for your dog, you should stay and explain yourself and not try and escape like a thief.

Two men get multiple life sentences for killing Randfontein family on their farm
Johannesburg – Two men were on Tuesday given life sentences in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg for the murder of a Randfontein family on their farm in 2016, Gauteng police said.
The SABC reported at the time that among the deceased were a 73-year-old grandfather who was visiting his family in South Africa, the man’s 42-year-old son, and his 46-year-old fiance and her nine-year-old daughter.
The men had entered a plot in Randfontein and killed the four people, police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said.
The men, who had robbed the family of their belongings, were arrested in May 2016.
The matter was transferred to the South Gauteng High Court, and the men were sentenced on Tuesday.
"They were sentenced to four life sentences each for murder and 10 years each for robbery," said Makhubele.
