Farm Attacks

I stay on a small holding outside of Pretoria. Our family has a farm in a Trust in Zeerust which has been in our family for generations. I grew up on a farm and yes, distance and isolation is an issue. The trick is not be be caught sleeping and off guard. Sure the burglar bars won't stop them, it does wake you and give you time to set up a defense. We don't sleep with open windows. Our burglar bars and security gates are inside the house. They need to break the window/glass door then get through the gate. We have 2 pitbulls outside at night and one inside. I sleep with my firearm pushed into the side of the bed between the section where the wood and the matras meet. (one-up). Wife has access to the safe with the shot-gun in it to her side of the bed.

It's going to be near impossible for them to get inside and into our bedrooms without someone waking up. I don't feel safe still. We have 3 guards guarding our entrance and exit roads as part of a community security scheme we have together with a response vehicle we pay for and maintain ourselves and a 24/7 emergency number. Still I don't sleep good at night.

They can hit any time and me making it so hard on them will probably be me being attacked outside while doing something or going or coming back home. I'm aware of that. I at least try and make myself as hard a target as possible. I would never be able to sleep with the windows open, no burglar bars and no dogs. Just feeling safe with an electric fence.

But I have made peace with it, and this is the type of life I want to live and give to my kids.
Point I am trying to make is that it is totally ****ed up in so many ways that you need to live like that. I mean who has to sleep with a gun under their pillow "one up" as you say and think of it as "normal", that after having several methods and barriers to entry. And then point out to someone that has been murdered like "yes, but you dont have burglar bars".

Totally shocking that one has to be conditioned like that by the actions of these sub-humans.

People have been saying this for years only to be scoffed at and told things like farmers don't deserve special treatment...you're a racist for only thinking of your own kind...etc. etc. Fscking pathetic.

It's the world we live in. blame your European ancestors for bringing you to this barbaric continent.

I apologize then for taking a cheap shot at you. I just felt it was directed at my comment itself. Yes I agree. It's not a way to live, I can probably live on an island all alone and will still be this paranoid. It's how we're conditioned just to be able to get up the next morning. That is the sad reality.

Your reply to me was a little harsh, however I did not disagree with your original post per se. If I lived on a farm I would deffo had burglar bars everywhere at the very least (plus beams, alarm etc). Point for me is that this should not be necessary in the first place in normal society. Steal my bike or my wheelbarrow if you like, but dont break in to kill me. It is shocking that we have come to be so conditioned to think you are unsafe if you go on holiday in a place with no burglar bars. Or to have to sleep with guns behind 2 or 3 levels of security. The point for me which bothers me is that it is required in the first place.

All this and SAPS and the anc are doing squat. They not even interested enough to provide stats on killings and probably because if they do they will be caught out that they aren't doing what they are supposed to and sworn to do.
I put the blame solely on the anc and it's as if they gloat at every farm murder knowing the farm and land is in closer reach without having to politically order the farmers off the land.
Fvk you anc, eff and blf and everyone that supports them.

Anyone know the number of murders of whites by blacks, vs number of murders of blacks by whites, of lets say the last 10 years?

Surely it is an easy stat to get? Farm murders are in the spotlight for different reasons but also house robberies and attacks/murders are a big concern so murders in general.

Do you and your wife hold a dual license for the shotgun in that safe? I think you should perhaps relook your post and remove some information but that's just my opinion.

The issue is that people don't murder other people because of their race, they murder others because of other multiple factors. If we're going to start focusing on race, why not focus on gender and age as well? How many women murder men as opposed to men murdering women? How man kids murder elders vs elders murdering kids?

Why not start focusing on religion and sexual orientation as well? I am sure more christians/straight people murder other people in this country than buddhists and homosexuals

85% of murders in SA is men on men. The "so many women are being murdered" SJWs do not like that statistic.

For a farmer it will buy a few minutes but then you still have to fight off anywhere up to 10 heavily armed criminals. Help is far away, if they're even able to call for it.

Also, a lot of attacks happen in broad daylight while everyone is out of the house working on the farm.

My point is that a lot of people seem to be blaming farmers for this situation because their houses don't look like fort knox like the average Joburg house.

Normally the farmers have guns, issue is it's sometime not on them, so delay gives time to arm.

Even if they carried their guns at all times they would generally have to fight off multiple heavily armed attacked who have the element of surprise. I suspect not practical most of the time.

And I am sure a lot of murders are black on black, but different people use different arguments to suit their agendas. Arguing less whites kill people is the same as arguing less women kill people.

Nobody blames the farmer. Murder is still wrong even when there's no security.

The fact remains if the farmer want to farm in SA. They would have to deal with the fact that they are a target. Do whatever it takew to give themselves a fighting chance and then defend themselves.
Its kind of a surprise when everyone else can see this and then you here of some farmer being killed when the criminals waited for him in his house because he left the windows open.

The security measures taken by people in the city does work. If you at least have some basic security the scum just looking for a soft target will pass you by.

I'm firmly of the opinion that a number of these attacks and murders are politically motivated.

Its no surprise that these attacks are getting out of hand when the land issue is in the spotlight and you have two-bit politicians telling people that they must fight for and take their land.
