Race is not something that reported on.Since farm murders / attacks in South Africa have always been seen in the press as a racially motivated attack (I don't really believe that as I think 99% of the attacks are because of being a soft target or a dispute) which is akin to most murders, rapes or robberies (the attacker is known to the victim)
Are there any stats which show the race of the farmer who was attacked, or is that not allowed?
A 2003 (only one I could find and yip- I know it's old)- report stated that 2% of all farm murders were racial/ political in nature (so this could even include farmworkers with political disputes). And also could include farmer killing farm worker due to race based violence.
So- if there are about 50 farm murders a year- then there is 1 that is either racial/political.
Do you think the amount of attention the 'genocide' commands correlates to the stats?
