Lets see... I run:
Sewers, 1-2 elites (2 doesnt happen often in my experience)
Black canyon mines, 2-4 elites, chance of a goblin and go to next area, 1-2 elites and chance for a dungeon to spawn (3+ elites)
Road to alcarnus, chance of goblin, 1-2 elites in alcarnus
Desolate sands, 3-4 elites, 2 guaranteed dungeons (Vault of the Assassin has 6-12 elites and 1-2 goblins, the other dungeon usually has 2 elites on each level)
Finish with killing Zoltan
So thats 21-30+ elites, and a possible 4 goblins. Takes me 45min depending on how much of desolate sands I explore. You can actually checkpoint Vault of the Assassin so that you spawn there when resuming your game, but I like exploring a bit for the extra elites so I dont do it like that anymore. Whether or not the above is optimum who knows but it seems to work well for me
edit: this is without MS on boots, which could make runs much faster, and then I wouldnt mind exploring some of the bigger areas

Oh right, start with the 3rd part of the black soulstone (I think), basically the one where you just need to go kill Zoltan (no need to run around those 3 horrible dungeons)

Just looking at my Battle.net contacts & my own time spent in Diablo3, it's basically come to a complete grind weeks ago already. The D3 portraits have one by one changed back to SC2 and WoW with those still logging D3 saying that they're just playing the AH a bit.
Diablo3 was (in my opinion) a huge failure as Blizzard did not deliver at all what was promised in the early youtube vids - a perfect case of massive hype and over-promise, then under delivery. They removed too much from the final product for what we can only guess will be in the next expansion. Lekker $$$.
Honestly, PVP is still not in the game?
