Wow, I just experienced a 900+ KB/sec 3rd party bittorrent download (10Mbit),
it ate thru an 800MB file in minutes. Now the resulting http download takes
a good while longer, haha, on 116KB/sec.

Sounds similar to those unix shell schemes people use to grab torrents at high speed.

A 3rd party website which downloads the torrent to itself then you
can http download it.... nothing as fancy as what you're suggesting. :)

care to share ;)

oh and congrats to myself for my 300th post.. only took me about 8 months. At this pace i will hit 800 by the time seacom lands. This must be a record of some kind :p ;)

As I understand it, the http d/l would still go over intl cap. Plus you have to pay for the service.

Those two things make it not so great imo.

I pm'ed the interested parties. Got an 850MB file off it at >900KB/sec then downloaded
it to my PC at 116KB/sec. They don't count their internal torrent traffic to
your bandwidth though (5GB or 30GB plus top up).

Its quite economical really because for 3 EU (R49) you get 5GB of RAR'ed downloads
but 5GB off a torrent can be anything, even 10GB of bandwidth - depending on the torrent.

The site is a good alternative to RapidS/MegaUp membership. 3 day trial membership
available at 5GB at 3 Euro available too.

Imageshack offers a free service like this, never used it though so I'm not sure how good it is.

please enlighten me what is gained by keeping this mystical Peter...

...brings back shell account day memories
